When I lived in NC, the 'boys in the hills' would release their peach brandy just before Christmas. Pure marketing genius.

I photographed this sidewalk inscription in a residential area in Globe, Arizona. Coincidentally, it's located very close to the house where my mom and dad were in residence when I was born.

Default Whatizit?

I took a couple of snapshots of this very classy old auto earlier this year. I cannot find anything indicating what make and model it was originally (it's been modernized somewhat). I suspect it's vintage of 1935 given the old plate on the back. Can some of you car aficionados tell me what you think it is?

John

We stopped by a local car show yesterday, a ton of nice rides at the park. While i took a bunch of car pix, just thought i would share this one of a ‘prop’ used. Brought back memories as I used to hit A&W drive-ins all the time as a kid in WI.... decades ago...
And i find the portrait mode on the iphone can take some nice pix of inanimate objects as well as people.

We still have an A&W drive in here in town, when I was a kid I grew up 1/2 mile from it. Next to it there use to be a miniature golf, my sister and I would ride our bikes there, play a round of golf for .25 cents each then get a dish of ice cream from the A&W for a dime. Dad use to treat the family to the A&W, I remember the burger's were named the Papa burger, Mama burger and Baby burger. The onion rings, a foot long chili dog and a root beer float was my favorite combo. Dad would buy a gallon jug of root beer to take home, take the jug back and they would refill it for you.

Also reminds me of the cans of Dad's potato chips and a fist size Chunky bar was a nickle. The State Police carried the S&W Highway Patrolman with nickle plated rounds in loops of their belts just like a cowboy rig. I remember one day when we walked into the Woolworth a Trooper held the door for Mom and us kids, I was eye height and a foot from that revolver, I was in awe wishing I had one of those bullets, all I could think of was they were just like the Lone Ranger's silver bullets.

OK, I'm showing my age....

Duck River Dam : the city's new water reservoir. It was supposed to take a couple years to fill the lake but covered a bunch of construction equipment during another 100 year flood.

Thank you.

It’s an iPhone X, which I do find a camera improvement over my previous 6, and I also used, in the pic shown, a post processing app called Camera+, specifically a setting in “scenes” called “clarity.”

That is neat. There were COPO cars out there is similar configurations and they bad A..ses!

The only problem was when you jumped on those uni-bodys with that much torque the next thing you knew that car was crab-walking up the highway.

Thanks for sharing,

One of my photographs that I took in the summer of 1972, on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay at Calvert Cliffs, Maryland.

Chevrolet M49. If you enlarge the image and look close, you can see the familiar company badge on the right front hubcap. All praise to the driver who managed to park the car so that the badge was positioned horizontally!

Ran across an aviary with these little birds. Don't know what species, but they seem to have the basic color spectrum covered.

ETA: maybe a Lady Gouldian/Rainbow Finch
