Sandhill Cranes in the Burbs.
That’s a paved road up at the top of the pic.

We've had some strong NE winds that cause pretty big waves. Last week the sand washed away enough to uncover an old ship just north of Matanzas Inlet that's probably been there a couple three hundred years.

Don't know how their gonna excavate it when everything they uncover at low tide gets covered back up at high tide.

A while back, I built a fabrication bench for my garage. I have limited garage space, so when I built it, I made 'receivers' for each corner so a tool could mount like a trailer hitch. This way, I can maximize the utility of the workspace while being able to quickly change setups for different tasks.

Like my bandsaw:

Today, I finally got around to making mounts for my RCBS single stage and Lee turret presses for reloading.

For many years, I just spent the $$ on white box ammo in service calibers (most of my shooting) because I just didn't have time to reload.

Over the last couple of years, I've acquired several guns in calibers that I didn't shoot for many years, but still have reloading gear for. Of course, now that I've finally drug out my old reloading gear (I've had the RCBS press since the early 1980s, and the Lee since the early 90s), I can't get any components!

In '67 heel taps were wildly popular in high school. Between bells the halls sounded like a cobblers convention.

They banned them in '68.

One more post on taps. In '67 I had a pair of Beatle boots with heel taps. I was trendy.

I swapped them for desert boots in winter as taps and snow/ice do not like each other.

Spent Thanksgiving at my folks place.

Best company in the world, and a view you never get tired of.

I really should start taking my "real" camera gear out instead of using my cell phone.

The old little pier thing got a little damage from one of the hurricanes that plowed thru in 2005.

Like a lot of guys here, I begin my day reading the Bible. Sometimes I shake things up and go somewhere cool to read instead of staying home. Yesterday I went to a viewpoint just south of Cannon Beach to read and was treated to both of these. The elk was just about a mile from the viewpoint, where I took the photo of the rock.

And yes, I know, I've posted photos of that rock more than just a couple times! If I only had a dollar for every time I've shot it, I'd be able to buy myself a nice new gun!

This poor tattered fella is probably trying to make it to Mexico for the winter from somewhere way up north. With all the rain we had this weekend I doubt he will make it.

I was thinking of installing one of the Fox Police Locks on a door where my safe is located. I started looking around and someone makes them today. Also, the original Fox has value today...

Glass Edison base fuses, quite a few still in use today.

And if it blows don't put a penny in the hole to make it work, unless you want to burn down your house...

I'm no expert but I think they are the best door locks against forced entry I've seen. When you dropped the end of the solid steel bracing bar into the mortised floor anchor, and slid the other end at an angle into the lock, you knew it was solid. And it wasn't hideous looking with the brace tucked away.

Yikes, my backyard this morning. It was rainy and soggy yesterday but not so bad. Lake affect snow. We live about 30 miles south of Lake Erie as the crow flies. About 8 inches and should get a couple of more today. Nice and heavy and wet. Not to be expected for the first snow of the season. Live in NE Ohio, just wait ten minutes and the weather will change. Haven't started the snowblower yet. I guess it's on my to do list for today.

Don't waste a penny - put in a much bigger fuse to burn your house down and save that penny.

Default A Whale of a Time

For some unknown reason, a Humpback whale has been hanging out at the Alaskan village of Ketchikan for the last month. Reports that it has lifted the spirits of residents, whose tourism based economy has been savaged by the pandemic.

During Monday afternoon's rush hour, an unusual rescue was executed on the notorious Long Island Expressway in Queens NY. A swan landed on the highway's left lane, prompting a quick response by the Highway and Emergency Services units. They shut down the Expressway so that two NYPD officers could safely wrangle the swan into a cage for safe transport.

This post is about the "Mother Lode" of "Random Objects". Three days ago, a container ship called ONE APUS ran into a storm 1800 mile NW of Hawaii.
It suffered a "Stack Collapse", dumping at least 1900 containers into the ocean. This is the largest container loss in 12 years, and triple the worldwide total last year.
The Coast Guard has issued debris alerts for Hawaii. Should be a good year for beachcombers.

Edit: Backtracking to the nearest port, Kobe. ETA, 12-8.
