Nicky Reagan Got a Taste of Reality (Blue Boods)
Did any one catch last nights episode of Blue Bloods. Nicky went on a ride along with Jamie. She accidentally made a abusive marriage worst. Its sad how truthful that is when a third party gets involved and try to help someone in an abusive relationships.

I get it, it's just a TV show . . . but in a real life ride along she would have never gotten out of the car on that call. She certainly would have not been allowed to stand out in the hallway outside the apartment, and there is no way in hades she would have been allowed to enter that apartment. I don't care who's kid or grandkid she is.
And you're right, she did make it worse with her mouthing . . . which is why she should have never been allowed out of the car.

Your avatar is funny. Batman Vs Superman is on now! lol.
The show does take some artistic licences from time to time. Nicky is cute, but... well that is really about it. Just about every character in the show learns from their mistakes but her.

Yeah, I'm actually a fan of the show. Nicky seems to be the typical millennial college kid with liberal tendencies that she will hopefully grow out of with the help and influence of her family members.

Batman is curb stomping superman.
I'm only a few years older then she is. Some say i'm a "gen-y." Frank is my favorite character.
Blue Bloods is one of the few cop shows I still watch. I'm done with Black List, and H50.

I find it an interesting show.
I'm sometimes disturbed by the attitudes taken by the cop characters on the show, but I find them a lot more in line with observed reality than on other programs.
I'm sure that last night's show was based in part on the assault on tennis player James Blake, even though the producers would tell you that it's not. Unfortunately, I suspect the real case won't be as neatly resolved as the fictional one.

Go to YouTube and watch, Blue Heelers, an Aussie cop show. The last three seasons seem the best. I still need to see seasons 12 and 13. The show ran from 1994-2006. The better episodes are quite good.
Currently, I'm watching a series of episodes about a serial killer. A bonus is that in the later seasons they got some female cops who are acually hot. Sr. Detective Fox is a cutie. And she's every bit as thorough, sophisticated, and idealistic as Nikki's mom is on, Blue Bloods. The constable called Susie is also a looker.
The setting is a small town called Mt. Thomas, in Victoria state. You can learn Australian by watching, but I'm amazed at the influence American culture and marketing has had on Australia. They make a lot of references to US TV and movies.
Gunwise, the cops carry S&W M-10-6, with the usual four-inch barrels with a detective or two using snub 38's. Sr. Detective P.J. Hasham has a M-10 and a snub M-19, and in an episode I just saw, Det. Amy Fox had her M-36 out as she searched a building. Saw a couple of other M-36's over the seasons. I read somewhere that the issue load was Winchester 125 grain Plus P JHP ammo. Actually, I think an Aussie member in Perth posted that here. (Pete in Perth)

Blue Heelers: the firearms are kept in a safe in the station's front room. Coming on duty, the officers sign out a service revolver and turn it in at end of shift. The station is only manned during the day. If a call comes in at night the officers respond from home to the station where they sign out a service revolver and then respond to the call ??

I've seen those three-inch M-10's and they were used in NSW, too, I think.
The photo of the cop doesn't look like anyone I've seen on, Blue Heelers, but I've seen the photo before. I think it was from a different show, maybe set in Sydney?
The M-10's carried by uniformed personnel on, Blue Heelers are definitely four-inch M-10 with the heavy barrel. Detectives usually have snubs. Sometimes, Hasham has a gun in an ankle holster. His odd last name is Lebanese.
I think the cops on that show are too squeamish about killing. Hasham had fits over killing a woman after him with a machete, and Ben froze and wouldn't shoot once and almost cost a colleague his/her life. Fortunately, he realized his shortcoming, and resigned in that episode. Prior to this, he'd killed the nutty husband of a female officer, whom he liked. Did okay then. I guess the writers were just looking for a way to write him off the show.

Got to love those models 10s.
I would like to see the return of Starsky and Hutch. My Dad rented the show for me off the Netflix when I was a teenager. Enjoyed every minute of it.

I just finished the first two season of Blue Heelers. While if you look at it critically there are serious departures from reality the show makes me think I was an idiot for wasting time watching the more recent U.S. cop shows. Through the ~ 75 Blue Heeler episodes the cops have not yet fired their guns at anyone. Contrast that with American shows in which during an episode the cops either break up an international terrorist ring, catch a serial killer, and/or kill a few to a half dozen bad guys with out interruption of their banter about unrelated social interactions.
The Blue Bloods police station closing from 5 PM through 9 AM is really hard to believe. I attribute that to the show's producers never having worked a night shift. I ignore that. You can't look at cop shows too critically and still enjoy them. Also, the show has a strong anti-gun slant, but don't they all?
So far the only hand guns I've seen the Blue Heelers cops carry are heavy 4" barrel square butt Model 10s and the detective's 2 1/2" Model 19.
Blue Bloods is not bad as US cop shows go. Tom Selleck is running for reelection to the NRA board of directors. He has done good work making TV clips (commercials?) for the NRA. However, one of the things I base my votes on is whether the candidate has a lot of time to spend working within the NRA. He has too many other things on his schedule.

Citizen ride-alongs never get out of the car. On a domestic dispute call, ride-alongs are usually dropped off somewhere before arriving on scene. Even LE Chaplains are dropped off on some dangerous calls.
Television is just fantasy. Adam-12 was just about the most realistic cop show ever, as the producer (Jack Webb) cooperated with the LAPD. Adam-12 was used at the academy as training films for examples of good and bad police procedure. Watch it carefully and you'll see things like speeding around blind corners, contaminating crime scenes, correct community support, etc...

Is Bluebloods still on? How has it survived with the arrogant, immature, hothead detective that poses as the chief's son? He ruined what could have been a fair show.

I watch Blue Bloods as it is the only good one for whats on now.
The one that gets me is Hawaii 5-0.
They have more shooting in 1 or 2 shows then Hawaii has in a year or two!
Miss the old Police Story, change of characters each show and different
things from street patrol to undercover and detectives.

Next to NYPD Blue, Police Story was likely the best cop show. A few episodes were corny or unrealistic, but most were good and they had some great guest stars.

They lost me with their recent anti-gun rant.
On the plus side, that buys me a whole extra hour to get back from work, have the all you can eat fish dinner at Michael's in Rocky River, and still get home in time to watch "Blue Bloods".

Blue Bloods is still on, despite hothead Danny. Some think he's actually the star. I think Selleck is.
I agree with another member that Selleck has too much to do to be involved a lot in NRA politics. But his status with the public is a strong pro-gun message, as the public listens to celebrities, and he's about the only famous star who's pro-gun.
As for shootings on, Blue Heelers, they do happen and one of the early season stars was shot dead. SPOILER CONTENT: Hint: she later starred on, Sea Patrol, which is also on YouTube. And the guy who played the sailor Buffer on SP was a criminal on, Blue Heelers. He seems a genuinely tough guy, as is the actor who played the cop who married the doctor and moved to Melbourne. He's back in late season shows as a guest star, now a senior Homicide detective. This guy has also written a few books on Australian history. His name is William McInnis, (sp?)
The last two seasons are a little darker and more hard crime is involved, less of the crusty old fogies or troubled teens causing disturbances. The grumpy fat Sr. Sergeant lost his second wife to a crim and went over the edge, becoming just plain mean. He seems to be mellowing a little in the 12th Season, but I still prefer the relatively new sgt. He's calmer and more fair and wiser. But he's now having marital problems & is on the verge of an affair.
On the plus side, Susie Raynor has seen that she was dumb to take up with the rock singer/dope dealer and arrested him. But she'd still be a fool to go back to Evan Jones, a hothead who takes too many wild chances. I like Susie and Amy Fox better than any of the other female cops on the show.

I have to admit that the episode where he barges into an office full of political activists, physically assaults somebody and then threatens him was pretty [unintentionally] hilarious.
Two seconds into that, yak herders in Bhutan would have been watching it live streamed on the internet.
These days, you'd be hard pressed to get away with something that blatant, even in Chicago.

Too right, mate! (Been watching too many Blue Heelers episodes.)
I've been on boards where there are many international members, and it's amazing how much they learn (and mislearn) about the US via TV and movies.
I'm impressed that you knew about yak herders and Bhutan. I know about them, but have met few others who do.
We now have people here from everywhere, although I've never met anyone from Bhutan. But I've met Ghurkas from Nepal. They weren't visiting soldiers, either. They were college students.
Even back in HS, we had exchange students from Sweden, Norway, Finland, and New Zealand. Had a guy move here from Brazil.
Some were useful to know. The Finn taught me to pronounce Sako correctly, and he owned one of their rifles. And he confirmed my pronunciation of Suomi, leuko (SP?), and Lapp. The New Zealander had some really pretty slides of her country. They have sheep "stations" there, as in Australia. And she was a "looker."
The Braziian taught me to pronounce "tigre". I was reading one of Sasha Siemel's books. He thought at first that I was asking about a British car, not a big cat.
I was having trouble, as I still do, in understanding why the early Portuguese settlers had confused the spotted jaguar with a tiger.
And the early Dutch in South Arica called the leopard a "tijger." Or why settlers here confused a moose with an elk.
Actually, they didn't: our moose is the Euro elk. It was the wapiti that needed a Euro name.
Back to Blue Bloods, what do you guys think of the actress who plays Danny and Jamie's sister and Selleck's daughter?
She reminds me a lot of my freshman and sophomore Journalism teacher. I never wanted to date Miss J., as she seemed more like an authority figure, a mom or teacher. I did once double-date with her and her BF, who was some sort of business exec. He had a key to the Playboy Club, so several of us got to visit the one in Chicago. Anyway, I can't get too excited about Nikki's mom as a woman, but respect her as an ethical asst. prosecutor. If she's that way in real life, I see why Tom Brady broke up with her and married Giselle Bundchen. I think he has an excellent wife in Giselle. And not just because she has a vast fortune, more than he's earned. She doesn't act like it, though. Seems very loyal and usually happy. I think see's a very good mom to their kids too.
Anyway, what do our, Blue Bloods viewers think of Nikki and her mom? Nikki is too short and too naïve and liberal for me, and I see her mom as more of an asst . DA than as a girl I'd date. I

Texas Star,
I only gave your post #21 a LIKE to get your attention. I definitely did not like being told our favorite blonde actress is going to die and the other stuff that happens in newer shows. You need to edit in a warning. By the way, she comes back a lot skinnier as the Navy XO. She's pretty either way.

The original Hawaii 5-0 series of the 1970s, with Jack Lord, was overtly anti-gun, with hardly an episode missing any opportunity to knock private gun ownership. I quit watching it for that reason. I think Jack Lord was personally a violent gun banner.
At least the new Hawaii 5-0 series is not so blatant, except that there was one episode in which Danny came down pretty hard on civilian gun ownership, but Steve McGarrett argued in opposition. It ended in sort of a draw.
I have yet to figure just what 5-0 is. They seem to be some special operations force, not really cops in the conventional sense.

I Stop watching Hawaii 5O after the episode when Steve and Danny dropped a nuke out of a helicopter to save the island. But I was losing interest in it when that russion bank robber robbed a gun store and walked out with automatic light machine guns and full body armor in one of the most heavily gun regulated states in the US.
I loved Black List. But Liz Keen got on my nerves. She is so capture prone. She is worst then princes peach. Mario would had given up on her. Liz is the reason I stopped watching that one. The reboot of X Files was a disappointment. I would love to see a reboot of Starsky and Hutch!

They ought to do "Law & Order - Manila".
Every week, the regulars would assassinate some low level criminal or opponent of President Duterte, played by the B-list actor/actress du jour.
Suggested cast members:
Tia Carrera
Lou Diamond Philips
Benjamin Bratt

Haven't watched that one yet. Glad to hear Nicky's getting more air-time. Seems like for a year or more her little cousins get more scenes and she's only shown sitting at the dinner table. Her mom is a handsome gal.

Your Like got my attention, but hardly conveyed the message you just posted. Just the opposite...
Lisa McCune is okay as a woman, and I think the actress is probably a fine person. But I don't think she's really hot. I'd give her a 7 on the 10 scale. Most of the women on the show are dogs. The guest stars are sometimes cute. Yvonne Strahovsky guested in one episode before coming to the USA. Rachel Blakely played an ambulance driver in ten episodes. Wait until you see Amy Fox and Susan Raynor in the final two seasons. I like both better than I did Maggie Doyle. (Lisa).
They're quite pretty. My idea of a pretty woman is someone like Allessandra Ambrosio, Devon Windsor, Candice Swanepoel, or Doutzen Kroes. If I was a talented artist and sat down to design an ideal woman, she'd probably look like Doutzen. And have her modesty in spite of fame and wealth and her grace and style. I like Miranda Kerr's Aussie accent and wry wit. I also like Candice's accent, South African. All are quite smart, too. If you don't know who they are, Search and look for pics. It's worth the effort. YouTube has them in MANY official and fan videos. They shine on talk shows and in interviews and store appearances. I saw their former colleague Heidi Klum in a shop and she was even finer than on TV and in catalogs! By then, Heidi had excellent English and interacted very well with her fans. She was slightly reserved, but warm and gracious and didn't seem condescending.
I may edit the earlier post, or not. Few here would guess Lisa's name based on my "spoiler" post, and fewer also watch, Sea Patrol. You still have to guess where she was shot, by who, and why. And to whom she was engaged at the time. I think you'll keep watching. And you'll wonder who replaced her.
And you still have to look forward to meeting Sr. Detective "Foxy" in late seasons. BTW, Sr. Constable Raynor looks slimmer in an evening gown than in uniform. If you think Maggie was heavier on BH than on, Sea Patrol, I think Lisa was pregnant when they filmed some episodes.
"Blue Heelers" was a better show than most now on US TV. But some of those cops have rocks for brains at times. And a few have macho issues and anger issues.
Sorry I ruffled your feathers, but I think my post intrigued more viewers than it turned off. If we ever meet, don't have a "blue" over this. I'll buy you a pint & hope we can reconcile.
I'll watch several episodes tonight. I want to see what happens to Sgt. Mark Jacobs. If I was a cop there, I'd rather work for him than for Tom Croyden. I've looked up the cast and know when they left, but not how. One longtime member left in the episode I saw last night.
Another spoiler: Inspector Russell Falcon-Price grew a mustache in late seasons. But he's still the same (bleep!) he always was.

Regarding the episode in question, I didn't recognize Nicky. Maybe she has a different hair style or something.

"Nicky Reagan Got a Taste of Reality (Blue Boods)"
It's a television show. "Reality" isn't part of the equation.

I will never forget what a guy that was a year behind me in high school who joined the sheriff's dept told me and a friend about domestic calls, and why he hated them. He said it didn't matter that the boyfriend/husband/whatever had used the gal for a punching bag and beat her to within an inch of her life. Often the second they slapped the cuffs on him, she turned on the cops like a rabid pit pull. The emotional damage is as bad as the physical damage.

Actually, I watch very little TV, mostly TCM, "Big Bang Theory", "Blue Bloods" and history and science shows.
I wouldn't know what the NFL was if it didn't get mentioned on Fox News Channel... before I turned off the TV.
I spend most of my time reading, doing macrophotography, and discussing guns, history and photography on the internet.
Non-shooting sports? I haven't wasted my time since 1986.

I ignored Blue Bloods for many years, then one day out of boredom, I watched the first two episodes. Now I'm hooked. I watch it streaming on Netflix. Just starting the third season. Danny's partner, Jennifer Esposito, is now on NCIS. She's kinda hot.

Thats true. But I was referring to the characters young naive slight liberal views. She thought she knew better then Jamie, and made everything worst.

I have not watched the NFL for over a year for certain patriotic reasons that I'll not go into.
