Default Good News (1968 Torino GT)

My parents just told me that they are going to get my 1968 Torino GT towed to a mechanic for me. I can hardly wait.
I had a small job offer with my Dads cousin to clean all his old guns. I agreed to do it. But my car broke down. Every dime I had went to paying my parents bills. As soon as my car is fixed. I am going to see if the offer still stands.

Also there is this awesome girl that works at a local restaurant that I been dying to ask out!

We can get a better perspective of this situation if you tell us how old you are.

With that GT on the road that girl should be no problem.

Good luck.

Which engine is in that GT? 1968 was the first year for the 428 CJ. THAT would be sweet! Realistically, any of those offered would be sweet in a Torino GT! Love to see a picture of it when you get it back. Best of luck with the girl!

I'm hanging in there. Been a tough few years with a lot of sacrifices. I used to have a 1971 Torino 500 that I bought when I was a teenager. It was a classy car. But I sold it last summer to buy parts for my 68 after my 68 broke down. But almost everything I made off of it went to my parents. My mother was a nurse for an 94 year old elderly lady that passed away and my mom was between jobs. I did manage to get just enough to buy a water pump and a rebuild kit for the carburetor. I had to tune the thing too.
I'm going to use the car long enough to get the money I need to buy a truck. Then I am going to strip the car to restore it. It has a 302 with a Holley carb. My dream engine is a 427 FE. But that is not going to happen. There is a 351W at a local salvage yard that came out of a 1969 Cougar. I plan on getting it and rebuild it for my Torino. I thought about getting a 6 speed for it. Or a 5 speed with an overdrive.
Would y'all believe me if I tell y'all that my car still have all wheel drum brakes! I am going to replace those with all disk brakes ASAP!

Yeah, this girl is awesome. She looks a little like a Rosetta from the walking dead.

This is when things get interesting with this certain Torino.
Mine was built right in the middle of the strike. That means mine came from the factory with a 289.

I said it before in another thread, I love those cars.

IMO Keep it a small block. The 351w is a great motor.

I missed what tranny is in it now?

Disc on the front should do you ok. Easy enough.

Have fun, My car is killing me.

My '69 Mach I came with 4 wheel drum brakes and no power steering. As I was restoring it I added a brake booster and front disc brakes to it. I also added power steering to it. Wish I still owned that rascal. This was my last run in it before I sold it in '92. What a DA!

Had a '69 canary yellow black interior. GT package! 351 4 barrel. Ran and looked good. Dad kept it up while in the USMC. Ended up trading for a 73 Monte Carlo!

Walking up to a waitress and saying, "I need you picture for a bunch of guy I know on the internet." That may not be the worst line ever used, but you are wise to use discretion! (especially with this crowd!)

That's good advice, a comment like that to her could go either way.

Good luck with it, I only ever had the guts to actually ask a girl out once. She said yes but I found out after two dates she was only 18 (looked mid-20's though!). Had to cut it short there. And no, nothing happened other than I bought a few drinks for a minor. Both her honor and my integrity remained intact.
