I got the bird. Turkey time...
I guess the title says it all. Went to my favorite woods on Sat morning early and was calling to one side of the creek and this guy and his partner ran up behind me. Gobbled so loud I felt it in the ground.
Im sure you guys can figure out the rest. Ten inch beard and one inch spurs.

Nice Bird!! Can you hunt them with a handgun in SC? We can here in AL, but so far this season I haven't heard a gobble, yet....... Got another month to try.

Handguns? I havent even thought about that, even enough to look it up. To me its hard enough with a 12 gauge.
Hang in there.

Congratulations on a nice bird! It always drives me nuts waiting for opening day here in Kansas. Birds have been gobbling like crazy and 15 minutes ago, I was watching 6 longbeards strutting about 150 yards from my front door. Still have to wait a bit more than 2 weeks. Aaaaaaargh!!

Thanks all, got some in freezer and a breast marinating in the fridge for dinner tomorrow night.
That's that used Rem 870 police model, SCHP, I paid $200 for and put a choked barrel on. Remington Nitro #5 3 inch shells full choke about 30 yards. I had to roll over onto my stomach, which is no easy feat these days, and shoot from under a downed tree.
Pre make over:

Nice gobbler, congrats.
I have shot a couple with a shotgun, years ago.
Tried them with a bow and got hooked. Now I have killed about 25 with a bow, three last year. I hunt multiple states.
Twos from now I will be trying to arrow one.
