While Germany Hitler was in power he had 8 million people killed !
While Belgium King Leopold was in power he had 10 million people killed !

What is surprising is I had never heard of King Leopold ?

African deaths kind of "fly under the radar", if you haven't noticed. But if it happens in a western country like Germany, France, etc. you bet you'll hear about every tragedy that happens.

Maybe a historical discussion with people from the affected area of central Africa would yield some enlightened commentary.

But since King Leopold was given the territory affected as his personal property, by the Berlin Conference of 1884, whose signatories were Austria-Hungary, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Ottoman Empire, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Norway, United Kingdom, and the United States, we were probably less inclined to be bothered by it, since everyone agreed he legally owned the place.

Just guessing, since it was a bit before my time.

Two points: Starvation and disease are a lot less exciting than gas chambers and the winners get to write the history books.

So true! Deserves a few more likes!

Also a lot of the violence today in Africa are a result of his policies
