The Continental Army/ U.S.Army, is another year older today.
Happy birthday to the U.S.Army--formerly known as the Continental Army. May there be hundreds more birthdays to come and go.

My family member was there. He was under Captain Hooker and he answered directly to Washington.
RIP Freelove Roberts. Thanks for your service.

My folks were up there hanging out in VA.
So far, I haven't been able to determine which ones were my folks.
They apparently got those land certificate- bonds in lieu of money and went to N GA.

My elder sister is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In order to qualify, you have to prove that a direct predecessor fought in the Revolutionary War. I no longer have the paper work of our family genealogy, I gave it to my daughter. The man was from south Georgia and traveled, I assume by horseback, all the way to Pennsylvania to join the army. He was wounded once and once hospitalized with illness, but he fought for the duration and was a Sgt. We have copies of all his enlistment records. Its amazing that such accurate records were maintained and preserved, they were in the Library of Congress.

I met a couple while eating at CHUYs about 3 months ago. It turns out they research free of charge--people trying to see if they had any Confederate-ancestors? They research the other side--but for a small fee or a donation to the Sons of confederate Veterans. I dont know yet if they have found much on my "tree" but supposedly we had several who were Rebs-and at least one who was a Yank.
