WORST MOVIE I'VE SEEN IN QUITE SOME TIME!
So this evening we just did not feel like going out and so we stayed home and watched a few movies. I chose the first 3, "The Big Sleep" - Bogie, "To have and Have Not", - Bogie, and a Clark Gable / Greer Garson flick. After those my wife said it's her turn so she picked La La Land. She is still watching it and I am here typing this while she finishes. I'd rather be at the Dentist than have to suffer through that flick! It was BAD!

Yeah its definitely a chick flick. I like some musicals but it didn't do much for me and the ending kinda flopped so I doubt if many guys would like it but both my daughters liked it.

Most of the "Hollyweird" movies or actors haven't interested me in a long time. Don't even recognize most of the actors names. Just don't care to waste my time or money. Will wait for them to show up on TV. Last movie I saw was when the family went to see Finding Nemo.

I think "Days of Thunder" still holds that title in my neck of the woods.

We watched LLL a few weeks ago when it came out on Redbox. We were happy that it cost us only $1.50 for the rental instead of the price of two theater tickets.

We just watched "John Wick 2". Major disappointment.
Waiting for "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" to be released.

I just saw half of a pretty bad one.
The Homesman.
It's got some heavy hitter actors, but comes out weird!
I went to sleep half way through.
It's so bad, Would actually like to see the rest!

Worst chick flick ever endured.....
'The Piano' was one of the worst of that genre that I ever saw. Usually we like the same things, but she gets tired of my penchant for doom and gloom. We have watched several chick flicks recently and they were interesting, funny and entertaining, but 'The Piano' was the most obnoxious thing I've ever seen.

There are MANY movies on both Netflix and Amazon Prime that Ive started watching and quit after the first 5 minutes. Some actually had 3 or more star ratings. All I can think of is these ratings were from people who were paid to rate them as high as they did.
My wife knows better than to try to get me to watch La La Land.
I remember one live musical she dragged me to that was so bad she let me fall asleep during the performance.

When I was a kid I thought "dirty mary and crazy larry" was the coolest movie with peter fonda and susan George. It has fast cars and......and......well susan george added something elso to a young male.
I found that movie on Netflix a few weeks ago and it took me four sittings to get through it.
One of the stupidest, cheesiest, poorest movies ever to make Hollywood the joke it is/earned/deserves.

Walmart had it for sale here for one week--then they were sent back. However, wanna see a good movie? try: Land of Mines--which is a Dutch made movie about WWII Germans who are PWs--made to clear mines off Dutch soil. Not many of them "make it."

Funny story, just after Fining Nemo came out, my father and I were in Aspen at a deli. There special that day was fish and chips. Upon getting my order I said loudly, "Hey look, I found Nemo". Turning around I saw I had a troop of Brownie Scout standing behind me. The look on the leaders face could freeze water. It might not have been so bad if I had not just taken a bite of Nemo.

I am not a subscriber to any of the pay-to-play cable movie channels like HBO, Showtime, etc. But occasionally, on U-Verse they have free weekends during which you can record and play movies from the pay channels, Friday through Sunday. I will usually go through and record anything that sounds interesting, even if I have never heard of it. It's astonishing how many of them I stop and delete after ten minutes or so - pure garbage. The majority of the movies are so poor that I have to wonder if the "Free Weekends" turn away more potential subscribers than they attract.

I haven't seen:
The Horse Whisperer. It sounds awfully bad to me. I just read about a zookeeper who was known as 'The Lion Whisperer'. The last thing she whispered was "AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I like old sci fi. Saw a really bad one where all the scenery on mars was an amateurish drawing. That was TOO bad, but I got through it. The next one, though, probably lasted two minutes.
Anybody else notice how Netflix documentaries have degenerated into, crime and prisons, prostitution and white slavery, docs about the 'hood', Everything Hitler ever said, conspiracies, UFOs being real is its own category.......

Recently, thanks to TCM, I got to watch "To Have and Have Not", a bunch of WW II classics, and a number of 1930s movies that have some historical value. OTOH, last weekend my wife, daughter, and I watched the latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie. Goofy even by their standards. Some franchises just try to stay too long.
Worst movie I saw before that was "Mama Mia". I was being a good sport with a group of folks. Had to go out and buy a gun the next day to get my Testosterone level up to par.

You want a bad Movie? Find this on Youtube or other streaming site.
This is almost as bad as Plan 9 from Outer Space.

"A Dog's Purpose", in my opinion, is a movie dog lovers should see. Saw it last night. Our Mini Schnauzer will actually sit down with us and watch these movies. Babe is one of her favorites.

And then there's "Swamp Thing". The only redeeming feature of that flick was Adrienne Barbeau.

I fell asleep during La La Land (at home on my couch). There are already enough movies about self-absorbed people stumbling through life with no concept of their higher purpose. Unfortunately that's Hollywood and all they know...

But at the end of LLL, both main characters got what they always wanted, just not in the way they had planned, and not together.

You guys have never seen a bad movie till you watch "The Room". Plots come and go, some never come back. Scenes make no sense, acting is none existent. It's so so so bad that its now a cult following. And a movie about this movie is coming out sometime this year.
Trust me. Rent this movie, grab a beer and pizza and be ready to laugh at it

I've stopped getting netflix movies just based on who is in it. Not a valid measure of how good the movie is. Have to wonder how big name stars agree to make trash films.

Because it's catered to a bread audience. I have guys at work who can't watch something that has great acting and makes you think but they'll happily pay to watch Fast and Furious, which obviously make good money. On the other hand I have no interest watching Fast and Furious

A "classic" bad movie (now a cult following) is "Troll 2".
1. The writers, producers, and directors were husband and and wife did not speak English.
2. There is no "Troll 1"
3. Made $238.00 opening weekend.
4. Only ONE professional actor.
5. The male lead was also the town dentist. Really! They had to work around his office hours!
6. Now a cult classic. Makes more now in a single midnight showing than it did in its original release!

In the semi- classic fun movies, I do love Tremors.
Have seen it several times, never pass up a chance to see it again.
I have seen the entire series, but still like the original the best.

My wife and I watched LaLa Land a few days ago. When it was over we looked at each other and said in unison: "That's a movie that should never have been made!" Ryan Gosling is so miscast it's hilarious. This movie is some kind of nostalgia trip back to Astaire, Kelly or O'Connor. Gosling's Shtick is a stone face....it's painful for him to crack a smile. In one scene Emma Stone had bags under her eyes big enough to make into purses(must have missed the magical make-up session).
Hollywood has been cranking out a large number of really ****** movies that never go to the theaters. One or two "name" actors, a ****** script with a brain dead story line. This junk goes into foreign distribution and DVD rental. Apparently there is financing available for this garbage.

If it isn't from the 1930-1960 era with horses, guns, and action, I don't watch it.

To have and to have not....
It's a terrible shame when authors like Hemingway are not done well.
Farewell to Arms, the Coop, very good.
For Whom the Bell Tolls - dang good and right with the book
The Snows of Kilimanjaro. Missed opportunity. The ending is poetic, deep and beautiful. And they stopped the movie befoe getting to the end. I think those last few paragraphs ar some of the best writing in the English language and would have looked GREAT on screen.
Now the ultimate. 'Islands in the Stream' . Great book, with the end depicting a firefight between escapees from a German submarine after chasing them across the Caribbean. It had potential to be one of the best action sequences in any movie. The first part of the movie was VERY well done with George C. Scott. Ok a few differences in the book, but nothing that disturbed the story.
SO, instead of ending with the scene described above they are instead moving a boatload of Jewish refugees to the mainland on a foggy night. Shots ring out and the protagonist probably dies. And that's IT!!!!!!!!
I swaneee that ending sequence in the book could be a movie by itself with a little filler.
The setting is just surreal being on a big pleasure fishing yacht that is clandestinely an armed reconnaissance boat with a crew of irregulars going from island to island tracking the U boat crew who are very clever and efficient and likely to get away if picked up by another sub.

During WWII, didn't Hemingway do some sub hunting in the Caribbean with his own boat? Don't think he found any.

Yes, he performed several similar tasks from his boat. The 'Islands In The Stream' story is 'What if I REALLY found a U-boat'? His imaginations is very realistic. Part Three, "At Sea" is pretty hair raising. Like I said, it would make a darn good action movie. I can just imagine the studio execs that said, "Hey, that's a great idea and we will fund your film, but don't you think it would be 'better' if it ended like this??"
<---- Studio execs
=8^ O=-=-=-==-
PS Hemingway being Hemingway, they probably told him to keep his eyes open and report any suspicious activity, but I'll bet that he really armed his boat and was hoping to get in on the action. Now whether he had Ma Deuces and hand grenades, I don't really know, but it makes dang good reading.
PPS: George C. Scott played the main character who looked an awful lot like Hemingway himself. LIke I said, the first two thirds of the movie were fantastic. If you can't read the book, watch the movie until 5 minutes before the end, then read the thrid section of the book. It will go by fast, I promise. It stands on its own, just know that his estranged wife and three sons are killed in succession to different reasons. By the end the character, Thomas Hudson, doesn't have a lot to live for, except his art, which may also e drawing to a close if the artist isn't around.
PPPS: The book was published posthumously and edited by his family, who put in what they thought that he would himself. I don't know when he started writing it, but near the end of his life, he was proven several times that he wasn't the fire eater he wanted to be any more. Which is probably why he killed himself.

No need to watch bad movies when I can watch "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly" every day. Plus "The French Connection." Love those flicks. "The Road" was one of the last films I saw in a theater (and that in NYC) and it was horrible. And grim.

P.S. Still waiting for "Alien vs. Predator vs. Terminator." If that ever comes out, I'll buy the theater and never leave.

The movie "Noah" with Russel Crowe was pitiful and I saw it at a theater. Just about anything with Robert Duval is good. I'm looking forward to "Dunkirk"

I remember reading that Hemingway kept a Thompson on his boat for use on sharks.

Let's summarize-
Ernest finds a Uboat on the surface.
Papa has a Tommy Gun.
The Uboat has MG-34/42s.
I wonder how that would work out?

The last movie I saw in the theater was "John Carter of Mars". There's probably a reason for that.
Occasionally, my mother will ask me "Why don't you go to the movies?" I reply in words to the effect of, "If I want to throw away $10 and have my intelligence insulted by condescending imbeciles, I can flush a ten dollar bill down the toilet and then watch MSNBC."
