Jim Cantore is in New Orleans....
...and the ^&*%#*# thing doesn't even have a name yet!!! People are going absolutely CRAZY. we are going to get rain and a few squalls and they are acting like the world of coming to an end. Is this going to affect me? YES-had to cancel AGAIN an offshore fishing trip. Alhough seas are forecast at 7-10's Wednesday they are forecast to drop to 5-6 by Friday-Saturday-marginal but doable................
More importantly I've got two shields that just went out today from PSA-Hope they get through so I have something to play with this weekend since it looks like I'll be at the old homestead.

Poor little Cajunlawyer... Lately here I too have come to know a thing or two about frustration, though in my case it is not weather-related. Anyway, good luck with the new Shields. I'm a bit surprised you bought them. You don't seem the Shield type.

Jim Cantore has become the Geraldo Riveira of the Weather Channel.
It's self explanatory if you followed both careers...

Well, the world is coming to an end but I'm fairly confident this week's weather will not bring on the apocalypse.

Well it's a little late for it, but if It HAD to come thru Nola and up my way, It could pick up Robt Lee's statue and a mess o' mudbugs, and drop them by my pond. Kinda Cajun Crawnado. Maybe pick up some taters and corn in M'ssippi too!

I'm not but at these prices I just can't pass them up. One is for my son-he had to sell his due to money problems (he's currently in school) and I found out after the fact. Too proud to ask dad for a loan. I'm giving him the 9 and keeping the .45 for myself

Your a good dad. Some sons are like that.My son came for a long leave once and was short of cash to get back to Texas on .And sold a shotgun his step grandfather had left him.I found out when lgs asked if I knew where chokes were. They sold it to me for what they had in it. The next Christmas I gave it back to him.Enough of thread drift hope you get through the weather alright. And a lot of rain is a good excuse to open a bottle of single malt.

PSA is also "Operator-talk" for Palmetto State Armory

Over here we're under a flash flood watch until Thursday night. I stay stocked up on storm stuff, especially this time of year. I went through "The Great Bourbon Shortage of Hurricane Katrina" and vowed that would never happen again. I'm sitting on a case and a half of my favorite stuff, just serviced the generator and picked up a few yard missiles so I'm good.

So is the boat off the trailer and on the ground? Filled with water?
Charlie and I had a discussion maybe 10 years ago. He was worried his house might get transported to the next county and he'd lose all his booze. I gave him a good ole Kentucky solution. You head out to the yard with a shovel and a couple of bottles of your best booze (sealed of course). Ya dig a minor hole and put the bottles in it. Then you fill it back in and find a nice rock. Kinda like a grave marker, but its only to find the hole again. Then even if a minister comes to visit, you've still got your private stash.
Go ahead and dig in my back yard. All you'll find is Tom Cat's remains. I moved all my A H Hirsch and Pappy to the gun vault.

One of the UK TV networks had a lady called Kate Adie as their overseas "hotspot" reporter. It got to the point that when she came to your town it was a toss up as to who killed you, the rebels, the government fighting the rebels or NATO bombing everything in sight. Whichever way, you were probably done for.

In the summer he brings you all "The Wet Death!" In the winter he brings us Yankees "The White Death!"
I'm more a red wine and dark beer guy, but I certainly understand the need to stock up on provisions, before the hoarders get to the stores!

We officially have a storm named Cindy. Surely Cantore is the cause. I stocked up on canned goods. I figure an 18-pack will see me through this one.

I got prepared for the big storm yesterday. I cut my grass while the ground was fairly dry.
This one will be a potential soaker, but not a big wind event.

We have been getting a steady light rain all day, not very windy. It is a NE wind about 10-15 mph so that is a good direction for us. Especially for the fishing camp in Cocodrie, NE wind will help keep the tidal surge down.
We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Good luck all!

Haven't seen anything like rain in a month. There's a huge high sitting on the four corners, and until it moves or disintegrates, temps will be high and we won't get any rain.

Love it!!! Reminds me one time we were on the Canadian side of Lake Ontario for the Laser Youth Worlds back in 2002. Forecast called for 3's Figured it would be a little uncomfortable but noting the kids couldn't handle. Got out there and realized they were talking meters I mean YUGE swells!! Kids had a blast sailing in it-was all we could do to keep the whaler upright.
Right now I'm more of a 1-2 ft man myself-although glass calm is pretty good too. Problem is what's good for sailing is ****** for fishing and vice versa.

It was supposed to be 1-2 friday. It was a good 2-4, with the occasional 5 or 6 thrown in when you were least expecting it. The lady in the picture is sporting a nice bruise and some pulled cartilage between some ribs as the result of a 6 footer hitting us and throwing her against the rail while she was leaning out over the port bow checking the anchor set. She still fished all day and pouted when it was time to come in. Yep, I married good, guys

Been raining here in NWFL since Monday, over 12 " so far. Tornado watches and warnings all day today, flood warnings also. Winds 25 - 30. Cantore just wanted to hang at the Quarter.
And another 4 - 8" over the next 24 hours from Cindy, I think we're getting the worst of it.

Hmmmm, I have to admit I have never heard of this guy. I do have a TV (several), but we rarely, ever turn them on-just for old movies or cowboy movies, TURN and, probably, Game of Thrones later this summer.
The Weather Channel? Man, I sometimes think I don't have much of a life, just sleep, eat, shoot, Church, sleep, eat...repeat as needed, but...The Weather Channel?
Do be careful in that TS, though. As some have already said, it's already a killer.

The fishing camp in Cocodrie below Houma, Louisiana. Hopefully the water will start to recede on Friday. Under all that water is a normally dry lawn. The white line in the picture is the shoulder of Hwy 56, the crown of the road was dry. This is about 2.5 miles from the "end of the road". Like a friend said "at least the water didn't get in the camp"!
