I was a moderator on a large Weather Blog before they did away with their blogs and they found lurkers comprised as much as 50% of the web site traffic .. and at times reached almost 75% !!
There are many more then people would think ..

I am a confessed lurker, but only to preserve my sanity. I do it to get the "flavor" of the posters and moderators before I make a decision to join. I have to admit that a certain social website (which shall not be named here) genuinely changed my opinion of people that I thought I knew well when they would air their grievances from their keyboards regarding subject matters which I have no interest in engaging. Have lost my respect for many people who use language that would make even ME blush. Thanks to the folks here who keep a tight leash on things.

When my motor nerve condition started, I spent 3 years with a West Virginia rehabilitation representative trying to find a job I could still do.
After that time he declared me as being unemployable due to my disability.
I replied, "so now I'm not just a gimpy Injun, I'm also a useless cripple huh?"
He didn't reply to the contrary.
Just gives me more time to lurk and occasionally comment in the forum.

Get a job at a Home Depot as a loss prevention officer. All you do is wonder about the joint posing as a customer while looking for thieves. You can "tackle" a thief while using a motorised wheelchair--running them over. :-))

I am a 5 year member, but was not much of a participator. Now that I have more time, I realize I should have made time to be involved more. With the exception of one person( who shall remain nameless) I have met a bunch of great people, and bought some fine examples of classic S&W's. You lose out by lurking

I just did a quick fact check. Currently online are 3,557, of which 653 are members. A bit over 18% member use at about this time. I wonder who the lurkers are. I'm sure some are doing research on their guns, some are timid and just enjoy the read, some are anti-gun looking for evidence that we are evil. If you do not want to join, that is fine. If you do join you might find you like the interaction.
