Default Lurkers

I've been a forum member for some time now and I've noticed posts that are made by new members who've admitted to "lurking" on the forum before they take the step and become members.

I have to admit that, as a member, I've been lurking on the forum forever. The benefit of being a member is you can comment when you see an item of interest or something that pertains to you as you "lurk".

I'd advise any lurkers to become members so they can be a part of this truly great forum. Not only is the forum a great place to discuss all things Smith and Wesson but other things as well.

Shooting sports, hunting, rifles, pistols, antiques, you name it and it's here.

You lurkers out there should become members and be able to ask your questions, get excellent advice and provide your expertise when asked.

I'm an admitted lurker, and new member. I joined because of the bacon discussions, though I'll stick around because of the "gun stuff"

Good thread. Love those lurkers; especially the ones who throw caution to the wind and join up.

Apple smoked beacon! Thick sliced and cooked to perfection! Two, three, or even four slices stacked high on fresh bread or toast. A fried egg, a bright red slab of tomato fresh from the garden a leaf or two of bright green lettuce, a little salt and pepper and a big slather of you favorite mayonnaise (mine would be Miracle Whip). And for a special treat a slice of cheese! Now we are talkin' summer!

This is called thread drift, some are better than others! But you can't help with a drift if you're only Lurking! MEMBERSHIP HAS ITS PRIVILAGES!

This all seems strangely familiar somehow.

Don't forget Phil's chocolate chip cookies or Sal's pizza.

Seems some people post stuff just to post something.
Grilled pork, smoked a cigar and drank beer today.
That was after a nice hike in the mountains.

I have a feeling that some would have preferred that a few of us remained lurkers only. Sorry to be back on topic. Won't happen again.

I lurked for a long time, as this forum is an encyclopedia of knowledge. Any question I possibly had about my Smith & Wessons, the answer was found here. Whatever the issue, someone had already dealt with it and posted about it. Last fall, all of a sudden the ads started hosing up my connection and pretty much made it impossible for me to read the forum. I took the leap and joined as a paying member to get rid of the ads and restore my access to the site. No regrets! I have been a member of several other forums, mostly car related. This one is by far the most cordial. It is amazing to me how disrespectful members can be to each other on other forums -- I can't figure out where the anger, hostility, and spitefulness comes from. This is a well run site.

Bears are my weakness. Everyone needs a couple of bear guns in case a bear happens to be lurking around . Then there is always the question of what caliber is appropriate.

I stumbled onto this forum. The one I was on was somewhat unsatisfactory: if you believed in evolution, they made fun of you. Read this one a few times, and liked what I saw; I signed up.

Made a mistake. I wanted to use my name: Colin, but Colin was already taken, although he hasn't posted since about 2007. Should have used my full name instead, but I chose Cyrano from the size of my nose.

Growing up in England, my best friend was named Colin.

Now, when I see your username, I will think of him.

I never could understand why Colin Powell pronounces his first name like a body part.

As a new shooter, then a new reloader, I "lurked" in this forum's reloading section for a significant amount of time. And was glad I did. As I soaked up some know-how by reading and at first refraining from asking a borderline "reasonable" question... then finding a month later it was a "dumb" one...

The folks there are generally kind, patient, and tolerant (and sometimes a little strident) but by paying attention, good things happened.

I now enjoy some success as a reloader of accurate ordinance.

I began reloading when you couldn't find ANY powder, and had to learn how to adapt with what you could get.

The kindness of Engineer1911, and others here, was great for me.

Lurkin' ain't a bad thing...

You, too? We went over in '60 aged 5, and I came "home" in '84 with an English wife and kids.

Still don't know which side I belong on, and will argue for either like a native. ...

First let me say that just because a person's of native heritage, that doesn't automatically make 'em a tracker.
But it doesn't hurt.
Anyway, my wife and I went for an afternoon hike and I could tell that there was only one other person that had been on that trail for the last few days and it looked like he was there that morning.
He was probably around 6 feet tall and either overweight or carrying a backpack.
There was a backpacker's shelter on the trail and we stopped there.
Looked like the backpacker stepped up into the shelter, walked in, walked back out and continued down the trail.
As far as other hikers went, that was it.
We turned around and headed back to the truck.
There was a bottle of wine and a coupla pork chops waiting for us at home.
