It's sad..not everyone is as smart as I am !!
Neighbor across the street got Flamingoed Saturday on his 60th birthday.
Yes he woke up to 60 plastic pink flamingo's in his front yard.
They had a note attached to them saying that for $2.00 per bird donated to his favorite charity he could have the birds placed in someone else's yard on their birthday and had a number to call.
I told him to keep the flamingo's...they are in his yard, they are his...put them in the garage and keep them...do not call the number, and do not give them back to who ever comes to claim them...then he can donate them to a local outdoor range for targets......
This would do a couple of things....if eveyone would do this all the plastic flamingo's would eventually dry up and go away and his shooting buddies would have some fun at the range............
He just would not listen......he paid the ransom so now the flamingo's will find a new home.......He just better hope they don't show up in my yard on my birthday !!!!!!!!!!!

The plastic flamingos extinction strategy has been tried before:

Now there's a moral conundrum:
Extorted out of $120 on your birthday for a good cause ... hmmm
I think what will save me from having this happen to me is that all those friends who know me well enough to consider pulling a prank like this, also know me well enough to worry I might open fire on the flamingo-deployers in the dark, mistaking them for attackers. My eyesight isn't that good any more at night ....

Personally it sounds like good harmless fun, but I would confiscate the flamingos, and reprogram them for my own grand scheme. Two bucks a flamingo sounds like a good price to me.

What, exactly, did the plastic flamingos do to deserve to be shot? They were peacefully meeting with their buds; no squawking, no pooping, just a flock gathered together to wish the neighbor a Happy Birthday. Seems a bit over the top, to be honest. FLM!

Wow! We got flocked a few years ago. Thought it was a Hoot. Did not keep and hide, sell, ransom or shoot the Flamingos.

I like pink flamingos.
I'd have just left them in my yard.
In my neighborhood, they'd all have been stolen within forty-eight hours, anyway.

I like the hostage flamingo idea, except that our garage is pretty full already.

I remembered I saw a similar event last year here in Houston when I was out on a morning walk. The victim was turning 4. If the Tanglewood homeowners association allows flocking it must be socially acceptable.

"Snowflakes"? Where the amalgamated hell did that come in?
A couple of Halloweens ago I put out three black skeletons of flamingos in front of my apartment. Oddly, my neighbors didn't seem amused.

Geeze, the make up of that HOA must have done a 180 degree change in the last few years. Deed restrictions and HOA Rules & Regs use to be tougher than beef jerky. hardcase60

On behalf of the ASPCF, that's just wrong. Funny, but wrong.
Did the crispy mingos stick around for Dia de los Muertos?

I can see giving to my favorite charity, CNGF, a $120 would go a long way for a good cause. (CNGF = carpriver new gun fund)

I'd love to have this happen to me.
I'd confiscate them and make SeaHawkamingos out of them.
My wife bought a couple of plastic flamingos and painted them dark blue. Then she had me paint the Seahawks face on them and she gave them to her sister for a birthday present. She & her sister are both rabid fans.
Then she made the mistake of showing photos of them to a friend who runs a local charity. Her friend was so impressed with how they turned out that she talked my wife into a commitment that we'd make a bunch of them for their next charity auction.
So I'd love to have someone "give" me 5 dozen of them. I'd paint a bunch of 'em up right quick.

Winnah!
We at the ASPCF take our job very seriously. From our in-home placement program (Help Give Someone the Bird) to our residency institute (Flock U) to our social media get-togethers (Feathers Together) to our conservation program (The Wild Mob), we have something for most everyone... except snakes. Come join us at the Barefoot Bar!
(And yes, I'm gonna get some demerits for this one.)

We live quite a ways off the road up on the side of a large hill/baby mountain. For the most part it would take a helicopter fly over to see them.

Several years ago a visitor said they thought people who put flamingos in their yard were redneck and tacky! The NEXT day my wife stopped at the Dollar General and brought home 2 dozen. Anyone who comes to The Battery Oaks gets to visit with the range pets. None have ever been shot nor will they ever be.

A few years ago our scout troop was talking about flocking peoples houses. And for a fee they would come and take them away. They started talking about who they could do. My name finally came up and another leader laughed out loud and then told them I would not pay. I would keep them and take them to scout camp with me. Cant remember what happened after that but I did not get flocked.
