Halibut season opened this week

Turned down an invite to fish with a buddy at his place in Shelter Cove on the northern California coast. Instead, took my grandniece to my home lake for some of the best Kokanee fishing of the year.

They caught some nice butts. I gave a youngster a lifetime memory.
I have no doubt I made the right decision.
