No one inside the sub, no one saw him set here ashore at the time he said.
People where there at the time he said, but saw no sub.

Sounds like someone is reading "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea."
I read the bulkheads for the ballast tanks in the Hunley did not extend from top to bottom. It's speculated that in the attack on the Housatonic water from the tanks spilled over into the crew compartment throwing the balance off.
10 years ago they arrested an "artist" in New York Harbor in a recreation of David Bushnell's Turtle. The Spirit of Ezra Lee lives.

Latest version from the Submarine captain ...

"Kim Wall died in an accident on board, and he buried her at sea"

Why he deliberately sunk the sub? Not really clear yet.

Guess what he will say next week.

Well, news says they have found her body minus head, legs and arms.

Just a guess, but I suspect the young lady declined the captain's offer to join the "50 Fathom Club" and things went Tango Uniform from there.

No, it isn't "cool" at all. Not even close.

The inventor of the sub, Peter Madsen, has been in custody since August 12, charged with "negligent manslaughter". That's him in the photo below wearing his camo gear

Danish prosecutors will attempt to keep him in custody past September 5, and also plan to file murder charges against him in the death of Swedish journalist Kim Wall. Her mutilated and dismembered body was found, and was weighted down with metal objects from the submarine. Her boyfriend had reported her missing one day after she was last seen on the submarine. She had gone there to interview Madsen for a story.

I couldn't agree more, that there is nothing cool about that guy. So here is how it went... I saw the video on YouTube well before he killed that girl. I just figured I would share the video for some of my Navy friends on here. Initially after the murder (and I feel pretty comfortable saying that now) there were very few details. Many people wanted to prematurely judge this guy before they even had any sort of confession or body. At first, in my book, it was still a missing person and it seemed strange that initially the authorities didn't release a picture of the reporter so that the public could help confirm if she had been seen. I found that strange, but pretty much everything about this case is strange. At first when the sub just went missing, I did change the title to this thread to read - Missing/Sunk? I can't remember. I even think I updated it a little later on when they found the guy. To prevent people reading my outdated posts and getting bad intel, I changed everything back to the way it read before and deleted my previous updates. Since then I have let others posts with updates be good enough. I am a mechanical kind of guy, most things mechanical intrigue me. Like my love of guns, cars, motorcycles, and anything else that has an engine, this sub is no different. Thats why I shared the video. The only kind of killing in my book that's okay is when someone is defending their loved ones or their own life, a death penalty handed down by a judge, or during war. Just so you don't get the wrong impression about me.

Well, if you discount killing and beheading a female reporter, then sinking the submarine to cover the crime, yeah, I guess it is pretty cool.

Ah... Come on guys...
The sub is a wonder and came long before the murder/accident?
Can't blame "Gunarsailors" for liking the sub? Heck.. I like the sub

The fact that the inventor has done something horrifying now is undeniable
and we all hate him for that.
Not for building the sub.
Yes i think he murdered Kim, why lye at first if it was an accident?

If we look back at threads started by people that later do bad stuff
should we go back and "unlike" their threads?

You have no need to explain yourself. Most of us saw the date of your post and could readily tell you were speaking about the submarine and not what came to light afterwards.

You thought wrong. And "out of context"? Seriously? How can it be out of context when it's the only sentence in the OP's post to quote?

Why would you think that, and even put a little smiley face to go along with it? Did I mention you by name? Did I say anything about you? No, I did not. So your comment and your thinking that I was "slamming" you is unjustified and warrantless.

His context is cool homemade sub, your context is murder.
That's three of us that looked at this post that way.

I have to agree. The murder stinks, but it doesn't alter the fact that to most of us a large homebuilt submarine is neat. The linkage is something I can see past, but maybe that doesn't work for everybody on here.

To answer your question... I guess that since you had quoted something I said (with my name above it), referencing a homemade submarine, long before the murder... that perhaps you were unaware of how long ago I created this thread (it happens often here) and you thought I was saying how cool the murderer was. I could have gone back and changed everything about this thread and how it read, judging the murderer before we ever even knew anything, but I decided against it. That just ain't my style. I stand by that original comment, that a homemade sub is pretty cool in my opinion and I won't change that just because the guy who built it ends up being a scumbag. Especially since that comment in question predates the murder.
No you didn't say my name, but you copied and pasted it along with an old comment that I made. I have no problem with that and like I said, I stand by my original comment and have no issues owning it. So it shouldn't come as a big shock to you that I feel the need to clarify a few things. If not for you, for someone else who may read your comment and take it the wrong way. The smiley face is because if you didn't intend to imply that somehow I think the murderer is cool, then my mistake/no hard feelings. I don't care much if you think the idea of a homemade sub is cool or not, I originally started this thread for its mechanical content. There are a few threads I have started where I sometimes either repeat the title of a YouTube video, or I just state my opinion. If you would have explained why you don't think the idea of a home made sub is cool rather than going into the crimes this guy has done, after my old quote, maybe I wouldn't have thought you were somehow saying I thought what the guy did was cool. Either way I think we both can agree that this guy IS NOT cool.
Man that was confusing, my head hurts.

It's kind of like my suicide gun that I own. I don't think it's the guns fault, just like I don't think it's the subs fault. Some people wouldn't want to ever have anything to do with a suicide gun, some people wouldn't have anything to do with a sub associated with this kind of crime. That also just ain't me.

I wold also like to say that after watching the video on Youtube (a month before the crimes) I searched on Facebook for the sub and found a closed group associated with the it somehow. It was NOT the owner of the sub (the guy who has confessed to the crimes mentioned above) running the Facebook group, it was someone else. Whoever the administrator was knew some things about the sub, like that it was being restored and other stuff but it was not the inventor/owner of the sub. It took the administrator almost a month to accept me into the group, but when he did it was something like the day before the crimes occured. So as you can imagine, EVERYBODY started posting all sorts of information and comments, most of it inaccurate and most of it was in Danish so I didnt really understand it. The administrator did finally speak up and asked people politely that if anyone had any information concerning that guy or his sub to please contact the police but all the gossip needed to stop. In all fairness, I agreed. Then he posted that due to the large amount of reporters he was going to stop accepting people into the group. This was all before they even brought the sub to the surface. It was just sort of funny how people were so quick to judge before any of the real evidence was in. The guy confessed so it's clear now that he deserves to be judged and everything else he gets.
