For July my rotation is Fat Tire for beer and Blantons for bourbon. These two make it into my monthly rotation fairly often.

My apologies in advance for the following drift, but I had to add this to accompany Rusty's avatar (that's great!)

As seen on The Onion yesterday:

Some peoples clocks are stopped at 5 pm. SO WHAT IS the new PC/hipster name? I lost most of my desire to drink along with my gall bladder 3 years ago but added some coconut & pineapple rum & apricot brandy to my unsweetened ice tea at lunchtime today. 1st drink in several weeks.

Just recently finally found a bottle of John J. Bowman SB Virginia bourbon (not common on the West Coast). Since the weather has finally turned reliably to "bourbon and Tennessee whiskey" out here, that one has been the most frequent afternoon sip of choice lately, with an occasional Dickel Barrel Select. (The "heavily peated scotch" season lasted much later than usual here this year; rain and cold into June.)

Blanton's, Four Roses Single Barrel, Bulleit 10 Year, Elijah Craig are at the top of my list.

If I'm stuck choosing a beer I'd say lately its Tusker. Had to try it after reading about it in so many old books about safaris (Hemingway) and found out its pretty good. There's also a brewery from Alberta called Big Rock that makes one called Scottish Heavy I really like.

Another Hemingway influence was Hatuey but shortly after I finally found it in stores they discontinued it.

We should make this our "Happy Hour" thread. Wherever you may roam, if you're imbibing, let us know what you're enjoying, post a pic if you can, share cocktail recipes, seasonal drinks & brews, etc.*

My rotation right now is Blantions, Marker Mark, Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Old Bardstown bottled in bond, and a couple more.

I would like to share a recipe for ice, get a plastic tray with indentations in it fill with water ( tap water, filtered water, for clear ice cubes use hot water) to the top of the indentation, place filled tray filled with water into a freezer for 60-90 minutes.

Your post title made me remember one of our last vacations. It was around 11am, and my wife asked me if it was time for a glass of wine. I said, "Hey, it's 8am somewhere!"

I don't drink, and my wife's idea of a good time on vacation is soaking in the pool with a book and a glass of wine.

IF I'm drinking, a nice glass of a red from Chile, or a nice Irish double neat with an ice water back. As for beer, a basic Heineken 16oz can only after mowing the lawn; otherwise something dark like Smithwick or some other oatmeal stout or the like.

But since I'm trying to lose weight (33# in 29 days so far), alcohol is off limits for a while.

I like Myers's dark in the winter months. That and sour mash.

Summer means beer to me. Stalla Artois this summer, or just about any lager or porter. Beer is getting weird with all that fruit and wheat. I don't drink it for breakfast.

Go to drink would be Jack (I am an official Tennessee Squire btw) and coke. Then for"special occasions" it would be Gentlman Jack on ice with a splash.

I have been known to enjoy a Knob Creek or Basil Hayden on the rocks though.

Default NOT A WHISKEY GUY.

I can't understand why my Glenmorangie 18 y/o, Jamison, Origine are running on fumes. SoCo, JD,Buffalo trace, Seagrams VO ALL GONE??? When I rarely do drink it's my "Rheumatiz medicine" limoncello made from my own meyer lemons, or Bombay sapphire/schweps tonic & lime, Mezcal or my old friend Jose. I dabble with inventing the sweet stuff for the ladies. Pat pending, THE SUNCOAST GODFATER: equal parts coconut rum/Ameretto & top off with OJ.

It's the same in Mexico. They don't serve the best tequila to tourists. You have to know what it is and ask for it. Most of it isn't exported.

You certainly find that out if you visit the Dickel and Daniel's distilleries on the same day and compare the experience. Only a couple cars in the parking lot and down-home hospitality at Dickel, a Disneyesque three-ring circus by the busload in Lynchburg.

On the other hand, Daniel's is American family-owned, while Dickel is part of the British liquor conglomerate Diageo.

Hard to be patriotic sometimes.

Can't drink the pain killer I'm on took care of that. I found out in my younger days they have plenty of booze in the basement of the bar, God only knows how I tried to drink them dry. The old bartender told me I'm a hell of a man drinking Bourbon straight up. Funny after 15 double shots I couldn't get the key in the door. Then suddenly it opened. Unfortunately mom was at the door. Not good. But funny now my surprised look on my face when the door just opened. Lol the good old days.

I miss jack daniels with warm apple cider with a cinnamon stick yummy on a cold winter night with the fire going.

Having been a bartender, restaurant worker and fraternity member, I have run the gamut. I had a longtime crush on Long Island Teas and Pina Coladas in younger days. I still have a very few, but I have mostly settled into "trying to acquire a taste" for beer, wine and radlers.

I like Beer, I like most IPA's.
My favorite is the "jai Alai" from Cigar city Brewing.
My go to beer when fishing is the bud light aluminum bottle. They get stupid cold.
