Since most of the highway driving peeves have been mentioned, I will raise my pet peeve driving around town. You're driving along and the road is a single lane but basically with the shoulder the lane is wide enough for two cars. Mildred, who is in front of you, decides to take a left turn but stays in the center of your lane. If she pulled over to the dividing line, there would be plenty of room for you to pass her on the right and go on your way. But no, she hogs the whole road and won't let anyone get by. Then to add to the misery, every time that there is a break in the other direction big enough to get an 18 wheeler to make the turn, she decides it isn't big enough and continues to sit there with her blinker on but not turning.

If you have ever wished that you drove an old junker that you didn't really care about with big front bumpers or wish that there was a dozer blade on the front of your car, you know what I am thinking.

Well, then, you definitely don't want to come down here and get on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a scenic highway that runs from somewhere in Virginia (if I remember correctly) all the way across North Carolina into Tennessee. It's a beautiful and leisurely drive, and (again, if I remember correctly) the posted speed limit is 45 for most of it.

The National Park Service administers the Parkway. They tolerate little or no B.S. on the Parkway. You do not want to get caught speeding. Or littering.

A great thing about the Parkway, though, is that there are lots of scenic overlooks, and people do take advantage of them.
