"USE-BY DATE"
With all the medical issues that I have had this year, the wife thought that I was fast approaching my "use -by date". She did not want to have to deal with my gun collection or the grandkid's material inheritance. Earlier, I had given some guns to two of my grandsons. My oldest Grandson is a Texas A&M graduate and works in the oil patch so is constantly on the move. Recently though, he bought a condo in Corpus Christi and got engaged. He called and said that he was ready to take on the responsibility for the guns that I willed to him.
Last week he came to visit. We made a range trip for a little shooting. Below are some photos, me, him and the wife. Several days later when he left for home, I was 8 handguns and one rifle lighter. He also got quite a coin collection and a bunch of ammo. We all feel good about the gifts.

Judging by your cover you're an ex Jarhead. Thank you for your service.
Sempre Fi. And don't forget that things can go WAY past their 'use by date" and still be good.

GOOD DECISION!
Nice to be around to see them actually use & enjoy them, with your teaching of course. In pic #1, I'm betting that's his target on the bottom??

What a great destination for your guns. I'm glad he appreciates them.
Yeah, I've been told that use by date is a legal back door and it all depends on the quality of condition and storage.
Have you kept yourself in a cool dry environment? No? Minus 1 point.
Have you kept out of direct sun? No? Minus 2 points
Have you kept yourself from excessive exertion and stress? No? Minus 3 points.
Maybe you better give him a few more guns.
All in jest! He's a lucky man and you'll be around long enough to replace what you've given away.

On occasion, we Marines allow Navy types like the Master Chief to wear our gear. Navy Corpsmen assigned to the FMF are especially welcome.

The Master Chief was a Seabee!!! From what I remember, that was a regulation cover for them.
Hey, Chief, I haven't been to Texas for a couple of years, but I seem t remember that they used to have at least a few trees down there....
Best Regards, Les

SeeBees are good folks too! They build all sorts of things that Marines need.

Other than mesquite trees and creosote bushes, the only trees in El Paso are planted and irrigated. Yes, that is a regulation cover for Seabees. We wear our rank on the cover rather than the globe and anchor. The MCPO anchor and stars are difficult to see as they are black.

Good for you sir.
Several years ago I made up a list. I've had to modify it as one grandson went to the dark side for a while. He's straight now but can never legally possess them. Shame.
Some came from my FIL and will go to Mrs M70 side.
The rest have college or military in their future. No place to keep them. Then the thing that frosts me is, only one has the right attitude. My son and the rest want the black guns. My Dad's pre 64 is heavy and not exciting.....
The Ruger SS is not an auto. On and on. The one grandson my get the Lions share. I did not think it would be this hard. Blue steel and walnut. What's that??????

Back in 2000, when I retired, I gave all my long guns away. When I told
my wife she said "you did what, are you crazy?" That is why my handle
is crazyphil.
I remember years ago Billy Graham saying he never did see a hearse
pulling a you haul trailer.
It is better to give than receive, but sometimes it can get kinda
complicated.
