I just visited her earlier and she was alert and on her feet, so I don't understand why she's gone? It's only been a couple of hours since I left her. I can't find out what happened but I'm guessing she had a heart attack? Anyway, I was just in the midst of replying to PMS about her when I got this call. Her total bill is just under $740.00 and I have $200.00 I can give We'd. I'm trying to save enough to have her cremated. If not? the city gets her and only throws her in the city dump. I know slot of you are willing to help but just wanted to let you know that she's now with the Lord. Whatever I get and don't need? I'd like permission to give it to Rusty or anyone else that's needy here. One thing I promise, when I'm able? I'd like to get together with the bosses here and see if a fund can be created on this site for such purposes as these. If they allow it? I would think it could be a fund named for deceased member, Ron James as a way to remember him and to keep him in our thoughts. Thank you and bless you all, yours...... Carl.

Thank you very much and Shasta was just like having a daughter. I've had her for 14 years and now the Lord has her company. I love her very much and had her body cremated to keep the city from picking her up only to throw her in a landfill. I'll be able to get her remains back August 3rd. Shasta will be in a wooden urn with brass nameplate with inscription of birth and peace dates and some saying. This place is also throwing in a paw print in clay for me for free which is $50 more for those that can afford it.

I am deeply sorry to hear about this. And I feel bad for you that you could not be with her as she passed.

My personal beliefs and philosophy that I live by tells me that you will see Shasta again. Until then, please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your dear friend.

I had feared that outcome when I read your initial post and the diagnosis, but didn't want to say anything. Sorry for your loss. People who love animals know they become part of your family. Just like there's a special place in hell for those who abuse animals, I'm sure there's a special place in heaven for those who love and take care of them.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, particularly coming on the heels of your other recent bereavement. I know how tough this must be, and I'm glad that you were able to have her cremated. But although no one can take her place, from personal experience let me recommend that you rescue a kitten that you can bond with. There are so many out there who need a home, and would be company for you. As I read your post I was sitting here with my hand resting on my little Bella's sleeping back. She is the kitten that just showed up here at my cabin almost a year ago. Someone must have put her out along the county road, and she found her way here.

Over the years we have taken in many cats, and each one is different and special in their own way. I think you need another, and it would not tarnish the memory of Shasta, but honor it.

Just my thoughts, from the heart, no disrespect meant to you or Shasta's memory.

Sorry for your loss. I have had quite a few cats that I was very close to that took a piece of my heart with them when they passed. Only one of my pets I was able to cremate was my rescue ferret, Lulu, only had her for about a year before she died suddenly. I buried her and saved up money and picked out an urn I thought represented her the most. It made me feel alot better to have her in the house in her little flowered urn.
I hope you feel better and can look upon Shasta's memory with a smile soon.

I am soooo sorry that you lost Shasta. I know only too well the pain and sadness you must be going through.
Before I go to bed tonight I'm going to get a check ready to put out on the mail box. The sooner you pm me your address the sooner it goes out.

I have no doubt you will get all you need and then some and I want to let you know that as far as I'm concerned you are more than welcome to keep any overage.

Some things are not about money and should not be involved. Reality however often intervenes. We all want to see you be able to see to Shasta the way you want to and not have to worry about the cost.

My sentiments exactly. I want to be with her,and Sabrina. All of our ashes will be combined and spred with the winds somewhere in the Hill Country.I only have a vial of Sabrina's,will have all of Shasta's in about an hour.

I hope its not thought going too far, but I have a couple clippings of Shasta's fur as well.

I hope so? Ill be reunited with about 4 dogs and about 60 cats. There are2-3 cats I especially want to see again,the original Shasta- another that was a black cat I had about 20 years ago named Lady,and this curent Shasta.

I feel your loss deeply. Can't count how many times I've been through this with dogs, cats, horses and even favorite goats. I have another one coming up in the next few months. She was ready to go and didn't suffer. Bless you for helping her and as said above, consider helping out another homeless pet.

Thank you all. I went there today and tried inquiring more and was told that they too believe she had a heart attack. One lady got there at 7:30 am, said she was on her feet eating wet food-drinking and alert. About 10:00 they went in to check in on her-found that she had passed away. What hurts (and I love dogs too) is that the last things she heard-were the many barking dogs in cages all around her--and that I couldnt see her again alive.

I almost forgot, Shasta's bill is paid in full as of this morning-most of it due to phone and check donations. Il, be posting a thread on that alone before I leave here today.

You have my condolences, considering my age I have gone through loss of a pet too many times. I usually bury them at home, pick their favorite spot in the yard.
