Escaped the hospital late yesterday afternoon, after a week of trying to sleep on a sack of discarded toaster ovens.

Looks as if I have some pretty big adjustments to make rather suddenly, but that's all in the works. For now I'll just give you wonderful people a very short rundown, as I'm still very tired.

I'm now being treated for stage 3 COPD (knew that already) and some pulmonay fibrosis (knew that too), plus new additions: congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and only about fifty per cent of the heart functioning I should have. Kind of helps explain the devastating fatigue tha I've been hammered by.,

More later--thanks more than I can tell you for all the expressions of concern

shouldazagged I don't have the COPD, but I do have the AFIB and the
congestive heart failure. I had the last heart attack April 17th. Since
then I have a defibrillator/pacemaker installed in my chest and have
been in rehab for about 9 weeks. I told you all that, just to tell you
that it can get better. Thanks to diet and rehab I have lost about 35
pounds and feel better than I have for a long, long time. I hope you
have a team getting you everything you need, and I hope that you too
will feel better than you have for a long, long time. Best Wishes.

I'm glad you're back with us and that you got sprung from the hospital in one piece. My brother-in-law went into the hospital last week, diabetes, and the second day there, fell out of bed and broke his arm.

Glad you're on the loose, back in the wild again. Thanks for updating us.
Your toaster metaphor is a good one!
I do believe hospitals are the only place in the world where you're awakened from a sound sleep at 0400 to get a sleeping pill so you'll be extra groggy at 0600 when the tech wakes you to get your vitals for the doctor making rounds at 0700. Meanwhile, now that you're awake, the dementia patient next door with the DT's who has been screaming "Help me, the snakes are eating me" all night long finally goes quiet for a few hours.
A hospital is a place for a rescue, a patch, a treatment, a cure, but never to get a rest.
I sincerely wish you the best for a good rehab therapy result in the coming months.

There's not place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home.

With that said, you have a potpourri of medical maladies. Fixing the AF will go a long way towards giving you more energy.

Here's hoping for a quick recovery.

Having now spent 5 months at a heart/lung transplant clinic after my wife, who suffered form stage 4 COPD, had a lung transplant I can sympathise with what you are going through.

But it does get better. I know Karen got a new lease of life after taking an 8 week pulmonary rehab exercise class. It was only a collapsed central lobe in one lung that turned into a viral factory which stopped her moving forward and required the transplant.

Good luck and remember, the worst days fishing/shooting is better than the best days work or illness.

Hey Zagged-was with some of the friends of Dr. Bob tonight, and one gentleman shared that while in a mental health facility earlier in life, they gave him the good and bad news in his situation. They told him that the good news was he never had to drink again, but that the bad news was that drinking wasn't his problem! Enjoy His presence, one day at a time.

Default Yeah, I can see.....

Yeah, I can see how all that could make you feel
kinda rough'. Take care of yourself and I'll try to take care of myself one this end. My cardio guy wants to talk to me about 'changes' in my heart rhythm but he's not available until October and I'm kinda wondering what is 'going on'.

Too much bad news today. Sorry for your loss.

EDIT on 7/28: I have no idea why the above response is here. I obviously clicked a wrong button somewhere either on my keyboard or in my cranium.

Glad you're sprung regardless.

Hey everybody, look! Mike's back! Hey, Mike!

This place wasn't worth a toot while you were gone, the usual suspects notwithstanding.

Now remember, just 'cause you've burst the surly bonds and flown the coop from that hospital, don't think we aren't gonna want to hear from you if you need anything. Sounds like some changes are in the works -- so be it, but I hope they can be accomplished at a steady and determined pace that will leave you time to enjoy your renewed freedom here 'mongst the rest of us.

One day at a time, then. Not telling you anything you don't know already, of course. Just go with the flow, which given your experiences with fluid dynamics recently, should be a breeze -- metaphors being nothing if not mixed....

If it makes ya feel any better: I dealt with a kidney stone for the past week. My first, and God-I'm-begging-you-please, my last. The shock waves from the lithotripsy busted it in two last Friday, but the pieces got stuck on the way out, so my uro had to go in an blast 'em with his Holmium laser on Tuesday. He cut 'em off at the pass, so to speak, there in Ureter Gulch. Pounded 'em to sand. They're gone now, but the price was high in more ways than I want to think about. But hey, enough about me!

Glad you're home, Mike.

Default NOT a place for R&R like the old days.

When things get real bad, you don't have many other Options. My last visit, 7 days nothing by mouth, not even ice chips & I gained weight. Glad you are back home.

I totally missed this post till now. I glad you're back in your own bed. I'll bet your little buddy is the happiest of all!
Welcome back into the world. Sorry to hear of your extra problems, but knowing about them and getting them treated should minimize their effects. I pray that's true and will happen soon for you.
Hang in there and give Moose a rub for us!
Now, get busy and keep us entertained again.
