Default NRA

My Wife asked me to share this and I agree, I was sitting on a bench in the local grocery store, a large chain store, by the checkout line and I was wearing my NRA hat, I have several it is not a big deal here in Ohio. A woman with 2 children was checking out 2 full large shopping carts. Well, one of the children was about 9 and the other about 5. The 9 year old had picked up a very large pink ball and was throwing it at the head of the younger child. The mother was ignoring all this and of course the ball bounced of the young child and hit me. I just sat there, No big deal, Well the Mother came over and pointed at me and said

" You see that man? He's in the NRA and if you don't behave he will shoot you both!"

I looked at her and said " lady don't make me in to your boogeyman" she said nothing else and turned away with the children. Now mind you I have heard many things in my life but I don't think the NRA ever decided that killing misbehaving children was a good idea.

Parents do that to cops all the time. See that policeman? If you don't behave he'll arrest you!

"No mam, I only shoot mothers who don't pay attention to their children."

Well, might not say it, but I'd be thinking it!

I was teaching a concealed weapons class and a student raised his hand.
He said the neighbor's kids throw rocks at my house. Can I shoot them?
After recovering from being temporarily stunned, I asked if he was serious?
He was. (I made the appropriate notification). You can educate the
uneducated, but you can't fix stupid.

It always bothers me when people who know I have firearms jokingly say things like, "I better not tick you off" as if I somehow have a higher capacity for violence or will fly off the handle just because I own firearms.

She is doing a great job of perpetuating her stereotype also.

Just one of the reasons I don't advertise my NRA affiliations or ownership of firearms.

The only time it happened to me, the mom wasn't bright enough to tell an EMT from a police officer. Sometimes I think people should need to pass a test and have a license before they can have kids.

I won't put any emblems or bumper stickers on my cars because I'm afraid some nut case will vandalize my cars or some thief will break into them thinking there are guns inside to steal.

The more I think about it......... Of course, the parent has to go too. Even if it's you! Gotta improve the gene pool.

Should've told her it stood for "National Retailers of America" and you were taking note of all the unhealthy products in her two carts.

I actually got called to a house (Dispatched as a domestic) where the mother wanted us to threaten to arrest her son because he refused to go to bed!
