Judge is overreaching. Tiffany is the term used for a claw-type setting that raises the gem above the band. They admit that the documents and other items all identified the actual maker as not Tiffany & Co. This seems like a bought and paid for NYC ruling.

Yep, a "Tiffany setting" is a type of diamond ring setting.

I have a big bottle of store brand "Complete Senior Multivitamin/Multimineral Supplement" in front of me. Right on the bottle it states... "Compare to ingredients of Centrum Silver Adults 50+" **See Back Panel. Means to take a look, it's close to the same thing, but it is not Centrum... or priced like it. "Tiffany style" is what should have been promoted, and Costco's MBAs should have known it.

I usually just go to Costco for the senior buffet.
"Would you care to sample our chicken nuggets?"

Cosco, may have been correct in the use of the term Tiffany to identify the rings, but their intention was to mislead uninformed buyers.

To me, just another one of those "who cares" news stories. I'm sure most of the people who bought from Costco were happy with the purchase.

I'm sure you are right about the people being happy, but I bet they also won't refuse a class action settlement refund. Such is the norm for people today it seems.

What started the lawsuit was Costco having signage that state "Tiffany" with no mention of Tiffany Style. Costco knew what they were doing because Tiffany was not mentioned on their website. Tiffany constantly patrols the internet for anyone using their name for merchandise.
Tiffany is VERY pro-active to protect the name, copyrights and business model.

Rock and a hard spot.
Don't know which I'd want to tell my wife, she doesn't have a "Tiffany" ring or that I bought it at Costco.

My bet is that the ruling will be reversed on appeal. "Tiffany" is commonly used in the jewelry world to describe a style of setting a solitaire diamond in a ring. Like "Cheely" condition is used in S&W collecting to describe a 100% condition gun. Ed.

IMHO, this couldn't have happened to a better anti-gun business. It kinda warms the cockles of the old heart.

Costco's problem is that they did NOT say "Tiffany Style Setting"
They had signage that stated "Tiffany"
The amount may be lowered but it won't be reversed.

My 92-year-old mother had a class-action announcement card delivered the other day, to do with her car. Wanted to know if she should immediately take her car to the dealer for work.... <sigh...>
After 10 minutes, I still had not convinced her that this was a "thing" as she just could not get the logic behind it.
So I told her anything else that said "class action" on it should go immediately in the recycling pile.
