Default Another new Microsoft scam

I had a message on my answer machine from Microsoft. It seems my Microsoft license key has expired and many of programs will no longer work. All I have to do is call 1-855-515-1131 to get help. Isn't that nice of them? Another new wrinkle pops up every day. First time I've heard of this one.

It's just a scam. Has nothing to do with MS.

Of course it's a scam. Your license never expires. I just wanted to let the rest of us computer illiterates know of a new scam out there. They never quit trying, do they?

That one has been around for a while. It's good for you to post up about it though, so nobody gets taken to the cleaners.

I tell them "I have five computers; which one has the problem according to you?" Then they stumble and try to get me to let them drive my computer then I "bwaaahaaahaaa SCAMMER" and they hang up.
That's when I'm in a good mood. It goes downhill, wayyy downhill from there if they catch me in a vindictive mood. I teach those Indian/Paki scammers some new English curse words and invite them to do things those Thai contortionists could never do.
That was a while back. Now I don't even answer if it doesn't come up on caller ID.

I can tell you it depends on how your Microsoft license is installed. After a specific date some will expire yearly. This is mainly corporate installs. I suggest to call the person or company that install your programs. They are watching for copies now too.

If you Google the phone number you'll find all kinds of scam reports on it.

My reply is usually, "Yes, I have noticed the beads on my abacus are sticking lately."

I got that call last Saturday, it started out clear and then the voice mumbles and then gets clear again. All of my calls go to the answering machine as I never pick up the phone when it rings. How can anyone believe that MS would make a phone call to the millions of people using their product instead of informing users over the internet ?

It was on my answering machine. If it had been a live call I would have gone with the "You sound sexy. I'm sitting here naked. What are you wearing?" routine. *s*

The way I look at it always: If you initiate the contact it is legitimate, if someone else initiates the contact it is a scam. This is true on the street and in the electronic world.

If you're going to answer, a compressed air boat horn or whistle is nice to blow into the mouthpiece......

Default I prefer profanity and insults

When I get the calls from the Indian sub-continent, I always question their parent's marital status, who is their father, their preference for sheep or goats. After rousing their anger, I delve further into their IQ, common sense, and basic intelligence.

One male caller got so angry, that he hung up on me, then called back to ask, "Why do you talk to me that way?" The perfect opening for another insulting, profane answer about his basic intelligence level.

Apparently personal insults are not acceptable in their society. I guess they remove me from their calling lists. I'm sure I'm on the NSA lists as "Ethnic Abuser" . Hey, they called me -- what's the problem?

If you accidently answer the Microsoft calls everyone is a fake per Microsoft main office.

The best thing after listening to the fake story about your Microsot license is expired.

#1 - I do not own a computer are you sending me one for free.

#2 - I do not own a computer.
Then let them sit on the phone dumbfounded.

Any Microsoft Phone Calls are all Fake per Microsoft corporate. They are all calling from foreign soil from foreign governments like Iran, North Korea, Syria, etc. I advise anyone to never call them back, as they will get you number in their database. These phone calls are all made from a computer that they can use a computer program to change the phone number that they are calling from Any number. They have used the phone number of the undercover unit of our local Sheriff's Department.

The best way to avoid these calls was taught to me by a Deputy. When you get the calls answer in a very soft voice " Hello" and wait 15 seconds between and repeat "Hello" and if they do not answer 15 seconds after your 2nd soft Hello then hang up. The reason you talk soft Is that the computer interface does not pickup a soft voice. The best thing is the more you answer in a soft voice, the fewer calls of this type that you will get.

This was discussed long ago at work. My co-worker had been one of these callers out of job desperation. The callers are wearing a headset with an ear bud and boom mike near their mouth. There hands are busy at a keyboard.

When you do the air horn blast, the ear bud can't be removed fast enough to prevent ringing in their ear. Also, you may blow the speaker in the ear piece so they will be off the phone until a new one arrives. It's just a "Win - Win" situation to me!

Default I can't even get.......

I've never gotten help even when I call them. I'm always told that all problems can be answered by the 'user community', which in itself is nonsense. I seriously doubt that they would ever call me for any reason.
