The track keeps moving west. Which is bad for Florida, but helpful to my son and his family up in South Carolina.

Everybody I know is glued to the TV. I'm getting an update in the AM and again at bedtime. Madness comes in 3 hour intervals with the National Hurricane Center update, and then the radio spins it up. The wife and I are going on a recon shortly, let you know what it looks like. Joe

Madness in full swing. No gas, propane or plywood anywhere. Roads congested, not a smile in sight. It will be good to get this behind us. Joe

All I can say, my Florida friends, is you'll be in my prayers this weekend. There just doesn't seem to be any good news coming out of this so far. Stay strong and be safe.

Just returned from daily recon. Nothing open but one Publix. No gas anywhere but no traffic either. Sky is ominous already, wind picking up. Joe

Brought in the Flag at dusk.
Seems odd not seeing seeing it flying.
Prep all but done. Generator ready. Everything buttoned down. Food and water in place. Making bug out bag now.
Now we wait. Worst expected for us early Monday, before sun up.
Been in Florida all my life. This one might be the worst I'll see.

Quiet up here in Saint Lucie. Just some fast moving squalls. We should get a little windy/rainy tomorrow and clear out by Monday.
I think what ever Broward is getting now we might see by tomorrow. But not much more.
I'll say some prayers for our members on the west coast.
I have plenty of beer, ice and paper.

We have been praying as hard as we know how...both for the misery caused by Harvey and the misery Irma brings.
God bless you all.

I am in the tampa bay area and have boarded up the houses and stocked up on necessities. Most of the neighbors that are still here have done the same. Looks like a direct hit on us within the next 24 hours. Most businesses are closed, and not much traffic. Short distance to the water and a lot of low lying area around here. Been here since 78 and have seen some storms, but this one looks different. Ready for a rough ride.

Hope all you folks will be okay. We just got in from Charleston SC and they were battoning down the hatches.
It looks like they will be safe though.
All areas have their pros and cons but for now I'll stay in the Midwest.
I'll be praying for all of you in the path.

Good luck and my prayers are with all of you living in Florida. It looks like this one is going to rake the whole state if it follows the path they are predicting. But so far, it looks to me like it is still tracking WNW instead of more northerly. If it keeps going further west, that will put the center of the storm back squarely over water and the Gulf water temps are ripe for juicing up a hurricane right now.

For all the FLA membership:
I'll keep you guys in my thoughts. Please stay safe and use a healthy dose of caution in everything you do. I know most of you have weathered hurricanes before, but please be careful and stay safe.
I've been through a few having lived in Wilmington NC for 92-03. I can fully appreciate the apprehension of knowing what is coming your way.
Stay safe and look forward to hearing everyone is ok.

Something kinda interesting happened last night Harvey=aftermath related. A contractor came through my HOMED DEPOT line buying tons of supplies as he's rebuilding what's left of a Lowes that was heavily damaged by Harvey. If they only knew their rival was supplying building materials to get THEM up and running again.
No hatred meant at all. Just an interesting incident.

I'm about 10 miles east of downtown Tampa. When Irma was looking like a "middle" of the state hit, I wasn't all that concern because of being on the west side. Well, now that it is coming up the west coast, all bets are over. Have no choice but to buckle down and do a bit more preparing. We'll probably be spending the night in the central bathroom (safest) place with mattress from our beds around us. Also dealing with 1-2 weeks of no powder doesn't thrill me much either!

Coming up more of the West Coast - pretty much right over my house.
I4 has good rain hitting; my house should start getting hit in a few hours and then really hard by about 6pm tonight and with hurricane force winds for 24 hours. Then you add in tornado warnings as a nice side deal just makes it even more fun.
As to concrete block homes, the pics from the Caribbean were of solid concrete buildings, and they were wiped clean.
Rain bands as far north as Fort Myers are sitting at 45mph constant speed.

Just checked the projected track for Jose. NHC has it doing a loop out to sea that leaves it pointing at the US next Friday. Going to be interesting to see how the predictions change during the week.

There were several days of pretty much continuous overlapping tornado warnings with Harvey - at the end, we were too fatigued and lost track of time and did not maximize our shelter for most of the warnings. Good luck to Floridians!

Second thoughts of picking here as the "safe place". No good spots in the state it looks like. Directly in the path. I picked crunch time yesterday, for 6pm-6am , Maybe 8pm-8am???

Blowing pretty good right now. Some gusts around 70mph. I'm using the 40 ft "palm tree indicator." The guy across the street has a 40 ft tall palm (I've been telling him to get rid of for years). When it goes I figure the wind is pretty serious. Otherwise only a momentary power outage which ain't good for anything with a compressor. Joe

Lost power once. Got it back. Just read online, electric company has grounded crews. So next to it goes, it's gone.

The storm is about parallel to me now and the wind has shifted from east to south. All of the rain squalls have stopped but it got more windy.
Damages to my neighbors fence and mine. The other neighbor lost his BS gazebo pretty early into this. It hit his roof and caused damage. I offered to take it down or stake it down but he didn't want to bother. I better not find it on my roof. I have pictures.
I saw a trampoline go by earlier. I also saw the guy that it belongs to cutting his grass before the storm. Priorities I guess.
I need to get the dogs out.
Here comes another wind storm. Sounds nasty inside here and its after dark now.
A couple more hours of this for us and more to come for those in its path.
I call me lucky. We'll see tomorrow.

Can someone explain how these news crews are allowed to broadcast in the middle of this storm when there are curfews and orders for FL residents to stay where they are and not venture outside?

I'm in TampaBay and it is really raining and the wind is a blowing.
We have the house as boarded up/water tight/wind proofed as we could make it and are just trusting Him to keep us safe. Another 10-12 hours before this storm gets past us the weather guys say (amazed, as another poster said, that we still have power-expect it will go sometime soon).

Eye heading inland, should go over here about 3 am. Screaming wind, sounds like WWIII out. Took a walk around the house during a lull, everything still attached. Street still passable. Joe

Not letting up yet in Tampa Bay. Heavy winds. Can't tell how much damage until it gets light out. Heard about thugs going around homes saying that they are from the power company trying to get people to open the door. Then they rob the occupants. Just got a call from a friend that told me it happened in his neighborhood tonight. Called my son and he told me that there have been reports of this happening in other parts of the county today. We have been told that there won't be much response to 911 calls until the storm passes.
