Unboxing and Using a New Grill Set Sent To Me By "The Ringo Kid"
The Ringo Kid sent me a package. I knew it was on it's way and what was in it. I didn't know how useful it would be for me to use with my peripheral motor nerve condition.
I'll be using these more often in the future.

Snubbyfan:
You might want to use a grill mat for your smoker and grill:
Cuisinart(R) Nonstick Grilling Mat (Set of 2) - Bed Bath & Beyond
They work great!

Dave

That was very thoughtful of Ringo and I really appreciate it.
Some cigars just go well with a frosty mug of root beer.

Ive a set in the trunk now-could go look and tell ya about it-just too lazy to do so at this time.
Wayne, I forgot to include that shirt for your wife and will try getting it out Wed this week or early next week. Ive got a volunteer day Wed-work Thurs-out of town Drs appt Fri-work Sat and Sun-so not sure what day it goes out just yet?
Rusty and Jacks sets go out next--Qball gets a diff kind of package--but early Oct

Glad they worked out well, I wasn't aware you had some kind of nerve damage to your wrists arms areas though. Doubly glad they had these in stock tough.

My condition's called multi-focal motor neuropathy. It's a degenerative peripheral motor nerve condition. Basically my motor nerves aren't communicating with my muscles properly. It started about 7 years ago. I kept dropping stuff and my right hand wouldn't work right. Also, I have severe drop foot on my right side which causes tripping and falling and difficulty walking.
My neurologist said I have severe weakness in my right hand and wrist and moderate weakness in my left hand and wrist. The severe drop foot and various other motor nerve problems.
He offered to help me with getting an electric scooty chair. I replied "(expletive deleted) that."
Took me nearly a year to relearn to walk using the muscles that still work. My wonderful wife was with me all the way.
I still have some problems going down steps and curbs can be challenging to step off of.
Leather work's good therapy for my gimpy hands and if I brace my right wrist it makes my right hand a bit more useful.
Wearing boots that support my ankles helps me with walking.
Over the years, I restructured my diet and I exercise regularly. Getting my weight down really helps me get around and working with weights helps to reduce atrophy of the useless muscles and helps to strengthen the muscles that still work.

Snubbyfan:
The major advantage of those grilling mats is not having to clean your grill surfaces anymore. You just take the used grill mats (after they've cooled down) and soak in a sink full of hot soapy water. Then you give them a quick rinse with clean water and towel them off for the next use. The one thing you really need to check is that they don't cover the entire cooking surface (the mats are easily trimmed using scissors).
Good luck,
Dave

In a way, we share the same problem. I also have upper-are muscular dystrophy. My lower arms I'm as strong as Popeye-but my upper-Nej.
