Default Vets and the px

I just received a email stating that as of Nov 11, that online shopping through the bx/px exchange would be opened to all honorable discharged vets, and asking that I pre qualify

I think it's through the same service that determined my service for gov-x account

My question is those veterans here.

Have you heard of this, or recived similar e mail, and is it legit

There was a posting about it several months back. Might want to try a search.

I did it several months ago and was granted online shopping privileges immediately.

The prices offered by the PX I found to be higher than from other sources on the items I checked.

"The prices offered by the PX I found to be higher than from other sources on the items I checked. "

There was indeed an earlier discussion on the topic. It's doubtful if vets will benefit all that much from the new policy. At least locally, the prices at local big box stores are more or less the same as offered at the BX-PX (especially for items on sale), the main benefit being no state sales tax is added. And prices for the same items from internet sources (Amazon, eBay, etc.) could be substantially better than BX-PX pricing. I guess it would largely depend on the specific item.

I retired in 1989 and now live about 60 miles from Offutt AFB. I take it as something they should have done long ago and better late than never.

Even in the outback of SW Iowa I can beat or match their prices with other services, especially Amazon.

I try to make it to Offutt once a decade to see if any old SAC buddies are still wandering the halls of the BX.
