That would be a "narrow" escape.
If I tried to use this particular emergency exit apparatus, it would look like a garter snake was swallowing a goat. I shall avoid a high rise at every opportunity.

You know someone (probably drunk) is going to raise the lid and think it's a toilet. No way I'm going first.

The principle may be sound. It may work if you are 5'4", weighing 110lbs past that if you are +6' and north of 200lbs seems it would be like over stuffing a sausage casing. hardcase60

Now I know how that burrito I ate last night feels.
I guess given the choice of burning to death or making my way through a 60 snake, I'd probably take the snake.

If it is tight enough to slow down the fall no way I'm liking it! Sausage casing comes to mind.

Anything works in a cartoon. I don't trust most other people that much.

Things like that may be great, but not for this old fat man. Instead I make every effort never to have a room above the 4th. floor.

This idea has been around for a few years. The earlier model had to be tied off at an angle from below by someone. What a superb idea. Finally those above 4 floors have a chance of survival. The say even people with a phobia about heights have little fear as all you can see is about 3' below you. If I had a choice of hotels with or without one of these, the decision would be easy.

I have become incredibly claustrophobic as I grow older and watching this just freaks me out.
