Where has everyone migrated to for storing their photos since Photobucket is no longer a friendly option?

Sorry. I should have been more clear in my question. I have a 960GB SSD drive. No storage problem there. I'm referring to a storage site for posting pictures.

I switched to Postimage, and couldn't be happier. Once you get familiar it is much easier then Photobucket.

Since PB changed their terms and blocked links, I started using the forum attachment function. It allows you to upload photos directly to your posts and works just fine.

Instructions here (from the FAQ's): Attachments and Images

I left PhotoBucket when they got rude and became insane.
The forum attachment function works quite well for me as well. I wish I would have found it before PB.
Try the forum attachment method. I think you will like it and the pictures should be there for all to see....

Imgur is very easy to use and generate all types of linked pictures for websites, forums, and such. It even lets you choose what size your linked image is.

I switched to postimage.org. It's straight-forward and loads way faster than Photobucket. I didn't try any other sites, so can't compare them.

s&wchad,
Thanks for the push to make me learn a new way. Suddenly, I'm done with on line photo hosting.

There's currently a post in the Forum Office regarding postimage. Here's the link: Increasing site blocks experienced related to PostImage service

I opted for one of the 'pay for' versions of Smugmug. It's not expensive, very easy to use, and doesn't create any problems for viewers (like asking them to log in, etc.).

Users of Imgur might want to be aware the it has a conflict with users of Malwarebytes, as for some reason, it tells the viewer's to go to their site and retrieve the image. Malwarebytes sees this as an attempt to hijack the computer it's protecting.

I have been using Smugmug for probably 10 years I think - they are always making improvements - very fast uploads, no limits and you can customize the look if you want. My feeling is you get what you pay for - about $70/year in my case - I think that they have 3 levels (I have the middle one.)

For the record, here's how I intend to move forward...

First attach a pic from your computer. This is done by using the Manage Attachments button:
User friendly photo storage-manage-attachments-jpg

Click Manage Attachments and this window will open:
User friendly photo storage-manage-attachments-window-jpg

Click on Browse and then search for your pic on your computer. Once found, click it. Then click on the Upload button in the above window.

Once uploaded, the name of the picture file will show in the box Current Attachments. If you right click on the picture name, a window will open with several options. Click on "Copy link location" and then paste that into the post with the [img][/img] tags around it. This is the easy way to get it into the post rather than just having it as an attachment at the bottom of the post.

I am testing the attach function. I will try with a S&W pic later. So, this is my Detective Special.

I use Imgur. Free and simple.

Photobucket are total scum now, IMO. They basically destroyed the internet with that little "upgrade to 3rd part hosting" deal. So much info lost due to their greed. It was the internet version of burning down the Library of Alexandria.

I knew how to do the attachment but not how to post the picture into the post. Thanks for the tip, Rastoff! Testing that out here. Now hopefully I can remember that next time!

Since we have a lot of pictures I post online and need the ability to store and organize, I have switched to smugmug. The basic plan is $36/year and I think that is all most people need. It is very similar to Photobucket but without the ads, bugs, downtime, and hassles.

Ed,
I corrected your image address, so it would display full size. In addition to the method Rastoff mentioned, you can hover over the existing thumbnail until it enlarges and then click on it to bring it full size. Copy the image address from the address bar and paste it into the image code blocks. If you click edit on your post, you can view the code.

If you want the image flipped, you need to edit it on your computer before uploading.

So far, it seems IMGUR (free) is working OK for me. I downloaded everything from Photobucket and transferred it to IMGUR. According to the Wikipedia writeup about IMGUR, its correct pronunciation is "Imager".
