The boys take a bottle of Stan's wife's liquor to a speak-easy, unaware that she's filled it with tea. Now they believe they are wasted. His wife follows them unnoticed.

Id give an honorable mention to the Ritz Brothers but-they were a cheap imitation of either the Three Stooges or the Marx Brothers-I forget which?

Buster Keaton was the closets comedian to being a God-as far as I'm concerned:

The above images were NOT staged either-his reaction was also the real deal.

"Who's on first?"

Ed Sullivan used to have a guy on his show many times and I cannot remember his name. His act was to put two chairs about four feet apart and jump from one to another after drinking a glass of champagne. The more drinks he had the funnier the skit was.

I've always loved the Marx Brothers, Harold Lloyd, and Buster Keaton.

I had never really seen anything by W.C. Fields until recently. Wow! He was talented!

Now, whenever I need a good laugh, I play a clip from one of his movies. It doesn't matter which, they are all hilarious!

What was neat about that era of comedians is they were hilarious without being profane or vulgar.......something hardly seen today outside of Jeff Foxworthy and the Blue Collar Comedy tour guys.

I could watch Jack Benny all day long. If you've seen a lot of Johnny Carson you can see a lot of Benny's influence.

Here's one of Jack Benny's best with Mel Blanc.

Not so much "old time", but so many of the skits performed by Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman and Tim Conway would make me laugh so hard that tears would roll down my cheeks. There may have even been a few occasions where a tear or two rolled down my leg!

Default 1970 was a long time ago.....

These are exactly "old time", but...

Benny Hill and the Monty Python troupe.

Has anybody mentioned Tim Conway.

John Belushi

The Unknown Comic

Don Rickles

Steve Martin

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong

Jerry Clower

George Carlin as long as he isn't talking about religion.

Bill Cosby's records in the 60s'.

Rodney Dangerfield

Vaughn Meader, Honorable Mention for worst luck to befall a comedian. In his 20's he produced a record, "The First Family", a super popular impersonation on the Kennedy administration. When JFK was assassinated, Lenny Bruce stated, "Vaughn Meader's had it' (paraphrase) Meader continued to work but between typecasting and his association with bad news caused the rest of his career to be a series of failures.

For those of you familiar with the infamous hatchet throwing Ed Ames incident on the Tonite show it's not well known that the other guest was Myron Cohan the Jewish comedian . During a lull in the extended laughter Cohan turned to Johnny Carson and quipped' "Well Johnny if he Wasn't Jewish before he's Jewish now!" This has been edited out of the clips available online today(political correctness?) and it sent the audience into another period of extended laughter. The only reason I even know this is I happened to be watching the Tonite show live that evening.
