Default The All-New 2019 Ram 1500

Just saw it today, not sure when it was initially revealed.

2019 Ram 1500 – More Space. More Storage. More Technology

Gotta say, not impressed with the exterior. Our Ram is a 2003 and we thought about getting a new(er) once after after the move. But I guess the 2018 model year is the best looking for now.

The interior on the other hand is not too bad. The mid console looks like a space ship to me but the dash and seats look pretty nice.

The HEMI still has 395HP/410lb-ft.

There's an article about it on Forbes.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/samabue.../#720370bc7e9e

I commented on Instagram that we take a little bit of Asian design, take a little bit of European design, mix it and then call it American design. I'm not sold and hope they'll upgrade it in the future.

Until then we'll either keep our 2003

The All-New 2019 Ram 1500-20170621_091144sm-jpg

or go with a 2017 or 2018 Ram should we get a newer vehicle (I love our Ram and I'm tired of car payments).

Not a Dodge/Chrysler fan so I know nothing about them currently. How are they holding up compared to Ford and Chevy?

First off, I'm a little bit biased. But they have always looked better than the others, the HEMI is strong and eco friendlier, towing capacity is good if not better than most, options are good and usually they are less expensive than the rest.

I don't have 1st hand experience on newer Rams but we have a 2013 Durango R/T. It's got ~86k mls on it and only had a defective water pump. PT warranty covered towing and repair. Other than that.... knocking on wood.... no issues. Couple recalls. Gets ~15mpg/cty and ~22+/hwy.

They are not perfect but what really is?!

Love Dodge history, the two brothers were ahead of their time for sure.

I'm in the market for a new truck and here is my opinion on whats out there:

Toyota: Great reliability but bulky, not attractive, and expensive.

Ford: Also great reliability with very average styling, my second favorite brand.

GMC and Chevy: Slightly less reliable and looks are as bland as unbuttered toast.

Nissan Titan: Had one and loved it, my favorite truck, very reliable but the new one has a grill that's too big.

Ram: Probably the best looking and riding truck with good reliability similar to Chevy and cheaper selling price with a 305 hp v6 that gets 27 mpg on the highway. I like the looks of the new one with the chrome grill and I like the Dodge storage boxes on the side of the bed, why doesn't everyone have them?

Because it makes the inside bed width more narrow. It's a nice idea but I wouldn't want it.

If I needed or even wanted a full size truck I'm sure Toyota, Dodge, GM or Ford would be satisfactory. I'd probably buy the Ford because they drive my local economy and I've seen how nice GF's new one is. I like the Dodge's grill - looks like a shark with it's mouth open getting ready to feed!

For living with day in day out I'll keep my 08 Honda Ridgeline. I was thankful for it this w-end at the gunshow when weather went south with freezing rain and light snow. I use 2 tuff crates 27 gal, both will fit in my rear area with the seats up along with my other accessories. cart and chair in the bed, out of sight under the bakflip cover . Small enough that I could snag the last space on the loading dock for Sunday afternoon getaway. Surefooted in snow and better than most on ice. If every old coot was like me the auto business would dry up.

I own a black 2004 1500 Hemi and it's still going strong. Next truck will likely be a 2500 longbed now that I have some property.

I'd appreciate a manufacturer who could build a truck instead of a platform for gimmicks and buck the current trend of corporate greed and downsize just a bit to pre 2008 sizes,

Well, it's still a Dodge

Maybe Fiat can add some real Italian quality to them.

In the store parking lot the other day I saw one of these. I was parked next to the guy and said to him, "Wow that is a nice Chevy!" He was stunned. Had a good laugh about it. Cost more than my house!

Ford Shelby Super Snake. and I thought I wanted a Raptor

ONLY 750 HP!

I just purchased this 2015 Ram not to long ago. I wouldnt give it up for anything! Just put a Leer bed cover on it!
Far better than my GMC Sierra was but I really had no complaints against it.
Just always liked the RAM and having a Chrysler 300 with a Hemi changed my mind.
I’ve had Ford and GMC in the past and never really had a complaint but I really like this Dodge Ram!

Can't rave enough about my 2003 Ram! I'm not brand loyal, they ALL have their "inherent" issues, nobody makes a 100% maintenance free vehicle, love em all! Not a fan of the body style of the 2019 Ram and I've heard they're dropping the Hemi, again, ce la vie. Hold on to your Hemi's fellas.

Not a big fan of FIAT having ownership in Chrysler but I really don’t think they’d be that stupid to drop the Hemi engine.
I had heard that I could no longer order a Chrysler 300 with AWD and a Hemi? Don’t remember where I heard it from or read it but my local dealership put an end too that one.
I can’t believe they’d be that stupid? But hey Fix It Again Tony

The older Dodge looked like trucks. They also seemed to have a better reputation for reliability than the newer ones.

I'll stick with my 2006 Tundra until the wheels fall off. 189K miles and counting. And of course, it's paid for.

I will that in 35 years of EMS experience, the Chevys got a slight edge in reliability over the Fords. Especially the 4500 series trucks that they stopped making in 2003 and are supposed to be reintroducing next year.

Like I said, I'm not brand loyal, but the Dodges have a sexy muscular look to them without looking like a box, that seems to be the norm now. I believe the Rams have the most sophisticated look going for them.
And yes, Loknload, I believe they're stupid enough to drop the Hemi again, at least that's the scuttlebutt at the Ram forum by a lot of guys "in the know", we'll see.

2019 seems like it's going to be a real competitive year for Trucks! Ford, Chevy, GMC and Chrysler are all doing a lot of work and modifications to get to the top of the heap. I understand that the P/U Trucks and SUV's are the only thing keeping them in business these days.

Chrysler has always been known for the "biggest bang for the buck" but as of late has had some reliability issues. Hopefully they will have resolved them. Ford has taken the gamble with the Aluminum construction which I'm not personally a fan of. Not that I have any Aluminum vehicles or had any accidents lately, but from what I understand Aluminum is much more expensive to fix after a fender bender.

I would love to see all the American Automakers do well - but by making a better product than the foreign Boy's! I currently have a 2016 Yukon SLT (very similar to the Sierra P/U - but without the bed) and I am very happy so far (after 15 months).

Pick -ups and SUV's are the way of the future in this Country judging from what I see on the roads now and I believe what we are witnessing now is a similar fight that we witnessed in the 70's with the "Muscle cars". The car Co's. are dumping tons of $$ into P/U's and SUV's to cater towards the guys and gals who don't necessarily use them for work or industry - but rather just as their daily driver. Heck....... the Pick ups & SUV's ride better and are quieter than many of the cars from just a few years ago!

The only downside I see is hat the prices are going through the ceiling - good for them & bad for us.

We used to say "Fehler In Allen Teilen" (Faults in all parts)

I am not a Ford, Chevy or Dodge guy. I have no preference either way More a SUV person.Pretty soon to be a Mini Van wimp

Dodge has really nice design and looks. I had two (2) Dodge vehicles. Never again Engines where fine, looks great but everything else fell apart or off.

Only truck I would buy today would be Toyota or not really a truck, truck Honda,

Ford is bringing back the compact Ranger for 2019.

They are all to damn expensive! America is sucked into thinking gas is cheap and the same thing is gonna happen gas will go up and unless you NEED a truck for work, they will hard to keep.

Well, since the thread has wandered to other brands, I'll take this opportunity to post pictures of the truck I picked up last week:

So far, I love it!

I'm not really a truck guy nor am I a brand guy. As long as it works and cheap to fix it can be Dodge, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Ford....

However, the more I look at these new trucks the more I want a late 80s - early 90s F150 or Toyota Truck. Back before Toyota even gave them names....just Truck. The new ones just seem like they want to add plastic just to make it look scary. And it looks like I'm driving my living room. I fell like I should get up and go to the fridge during a commercial

And yes, Loknload, I believe they're stupid enough to drop the Hemi again, at least that's the scuttlebutt at the Ram forum by a lot of guys "in the know", we'll see.
I’m going to have to go there and check this out. I do know of the site but don’t frequent it enough to have picked up on that!
As far as I’m concerned they dump the Hemi, I’m done with Chrysler!
But then again it will probably be back when I’m ready to buy again.
I understand that they make or made a 300 series station wagon and only marketed in Europe, The Fiat Boys decided there was no market here for that?
I think Mercedes killed the Dodge Magnum which was Hemi powered in 2008.
That car had my interest?
The Hemi is just to tried and proven and they’ve made it better as far as I’m concerned!

I own a construction company and drive a truck about 45K miles per year, my Nissan Titan was my favorite but the F-150 was also a good truck. The trucks now are just too darn big for a big city, I have to parallel park down town and fight crowded parking lots and go to about 20-40 different places each day. The old, smaller Toyota Tundra V8 was about the perfect full size pickup truck.

Have to agree they are making all parking spaces and garages to fit the little put put cars of the day?
Have to laugh but the first house I owned had a very nice brick garage, but back in the day it was built around the Model A and T. It was kind of hard to get a full size 80’s Olds in it but we did so barely!

It's a Fiat truck! I heard on the news this week that the Fiat truck (Ram) production is going to be moved to Mexico. Who knows if that is true with all the lies the media tells.

I know one thing, FIAT boys move it to Mexico and dump the Hemi, I’m done with them. My 300 is from Canada and my Ram from Detroit, so the labels tell me!

I bought a base model car. Stick shift and power nothing. If I wanted a stereo with a CD player I had to buy a $4000 option package. No thanks. But a very nice stereo for $100 and put that in instead. I get to lower the windows with a hand crank just like in the old days. I don't need any driving modes or electric assisted nonsense. All a car does is make wheels spin around. Don't need a computer for that. Get rid of all that electical nonsense and knock $30,000 off the price. Picture of the dashboard on that truck makes me want to puke. I don't want to drive around inside a giant eye phone with wheels.

It's not too bad. It always takes me a few months to get use to the new designs. Set of 35s and it will look great. If you end up with newer 1500, try to spend extra for 8 speed, alot more usable. Especially if you got larger tires or do any pulling. Worse thing about Ram 1500 is their payload limits. It's the only truck other then a yota, that I would own currently. If going HD, ram cummins all the way.

Actually, I've herd just the opposite, that they're moving production back to the US because of Trump's tax breaks.

So WTVD 11 in Raleigh/Durham, NC had it *** backwards. I'm not surprised. Still it's Fiat Ram. Guess that's why they dropped Dodge from the name.

I had a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie, 120000mi.
Loved the Truck
Disliked
Driver seat stopped working.
A/c broke several times.
The rear lights fixtures had issues.
Alternator
Differential went out
ABS sensor in diff fell apart inside diff.

Sold it after the Diff failure.

I bought my Ram new in January 1997 a week after bootcamp. Still have it. 300,000 miles (and it was stored for four years while I was overseas) and still everything works perfectly. When it dies I will get a new one. I am thinking 2050 or so. This new one looks cool, but will it last me 21 years and 300,000?

I’m on my 4th Silverado. Will get a 2019 when they came available. One
minor problem in one of the previous ones. Some module or switch went out in the tranny. Was a $400 issue that became a recall issue, so a month or so after I paid for mine, GM reimbursed me.
Had a F 150 once and an Explorer, won’t make that mistake a third time.
Personal preference, don’t like the looks of the Dodge, at all.

Neighbors had a '15 Ram diesel 3/4 ton something or other. They pull a 2 horse trailer a couple of times a month, otherwise the truck gets used for the wife to go to work 5 days a week, unladen. They use the same 5 mile long poorly maintained, rocky, corrugated dirt road I do. The bed on their truck literally rattled itself darn near off 6 months after they bought it. Repeated repairs and Chrysler eventually, after a long fight, replaced the whole vehicle. They could see the same thing happening to the replacement and traded it off on a Ford before the defect became too noticeable. My 86 F150 XLT has been running that road for decades without a whimper, so far my Ridgeline isn't fazed by it either. I tow a 6 x 10 hay trailer loaded once a month or so and go in and out in the Ridge daily.

I have owned Chevy 1500, GMC Sierra, Ford F150 and (2) Ram 1500s a 2012 and 2016 with the HEMI. I had to sell the 2016 a month after buying it as I got moved overseas.
The Ram was by far the nicest of the trucks I ever owned. I never had 1 issue with it in 4 years.
I am not brand loyal but IMO the RAM was the best product on the market for my needs/likes at the time. I will not buy a foreign truck.

I have a 94 Dodge with a cummins turbo diesel engine. I don't plan on ever buying another truck. Heck it's only got a couple hundred thousand miles on it. Barely broken in.

Just turned 405,000 miles on my 1999 Suburban. Still runs & tows. Torn as to whether to go with truck or another Suburban when the time comes. I like the fact that I can store all my important stuff inside and still have plenty of room for a passenger or two Probably will get another one and buy a utility trailer to cart stuff I don't want to put inside the Suburban-although over the years there ain't too much I haven't put in there....

I really hope they drop it, I'm sure a lot of guys here remember the 70s-80s when you could buy old Mopars with the Hemi, cheap all day long...now look at em'. I know the new Hemi isn't identical to the hemi's of yester year, but they are indeed hemis with the performance and sound, nothing like them. I'd love to see my truck be in demand 20 years from now, who knows?

IMO the 2019 ram and silverado are ugly. Like the looks of the 2015 + f150 and 2014-2015 silverado. Other then that, I probably won't own a gm truck newer then 06.

IMG_5548.jpg

My 01 just rolled over 148k with no real issues other then a fuel pump a couple years ago. It's had a bigger cam and higher stall converter in it since august of 2012 at 87k miles. Never getting rid of this one. Eventually will have a forged 6.0 with a big whipple in it.

For a while now I've been considering what to buy to replace the Jeep that I crashed back in November. I really liked that one. But all I see are pictures of 4 door trucks, the ones about as long as most big rigs or trains. I don't really like huge vehicles, and kind of get a bit angry when the best their drivers can do is take up 2 parking spaces. Most need to go around a city block to turn around. So I'm now considering a Ferd. Not because I like them, but because if anything happened to it, I wouldn't feel bad.

My 01 just rolled over 148k with no real issues other then a fuel pump a couple years ago. It's had a bigger cam and higher stall converter in it since august of 2012 at 87k miles. Never getting rid of this one. Eventually will have a forged 6.0 with a big whipple in it.

Spot on, those are the FUGLIEST beast on the road now, what happened Dodge, did you get a bunch of design grad students out of India or something? Those Ford Raptors are look'n pretty nice though. I like the way you think, I've got over 145K on mine and will just rebuild the Hemi bigger and better when it goes!

I plan to stick with our 2006 Dodge Ram. It's got lotsa room, a really nice ride, 4wd and it'll haul our bikes and camping gear way up into the West Virginia mountains.

It's really more truck than we need but I like it.
