What we're up against
Joe Scarborough said that "..the government wanted to use the AR-15 in Vietnam as it was more lethal than the M-16."
I won't post the link as it's easy enough to find and I don't want to plaster his face on this forum.
His viewers believe this sheepdip.

You're right Rustyt1953. Scarborough probably knows that he's full of sheep dip and that his viewers know nothing about guns. So, he can get away with making stuff up.

If an idiot that is in a position...
...to be a mouthpiece, then people that don't know any better than to think it's true. It's bad enough that he said it. But now there are probably a lot of people who think that it is true.
It doesn't take a lot of time to say it right.
AR-15s can fire semi auto, or one round at time.
M-16 can fire semi auto, three round burst or full auto.
Which one do YOU think is more lethal?

Everyone says dumb stuff. Don't they?
If you've looked up Scarborough on the Internet (and knowing you, I'm sure you have), you know there's more to him than his uninformed or somewhat twisted views on guns and the Second Amendment.
I'm not taking up for him. Poke fun at him and his "sheepdip" all you wish. As you say, information on him is easy to find. He didn't get elected to Congress four times from Florida's 1st District...once with 72% of the vote...by being stupid. Unless maybe Florida voters in that district are dumber than the sand dollars found on the beach.
Poke fun at him and his views, sure, but don't sell the man short.

I also believe there is a mysterious death associated with him while in congress. Honestly though if you don't watch him or keep up with the things he says I can see how you wouldn't consider him a blithering idiot.

Dishonest morons say dishonest, moronic things.
In response, say smart truthful things.

A quick read of the article from 1981 he mentioned shows the author was comparing the AR 15 to the older M14....
.....but who's really interested in facts anyway???
I'm sure all their viewers are taking the time to fact check

I don't know sir. There certainly are some runner ups in the wings. These news people remind me of the shady character you used to meet near a dark alley with watches up and down his sleeves trying to sell you one.........and they're all fakes.

I think he was getting his info from Wikipedia:
Link to M-14 on Wikipedia
He was probably relying on this from that Wikipedia article:
Quote:
Further procurement of the M14 was abruptly halted in late 1963 due to the U.S. Department of Defense report which had also stated that the AR-15 (soon to be M16) was superior to the M14.

in concealed carry.

How can people this stupid stay employed?
If the AR-15 is a "weapon of war" why isn't a single military using them?

And then there is Sean Hannity .... but if we started laying out what we really thought about media personalities, we’d all get banned and nobody would be around to advise people about using +P ammo and other essentials of Western civilization ....

Sure you’re taking up for him. Having been elected by 72% of any electorate means what, that he knows of what he speaks? A lie is a lie. Skip the “definition of is, is” defense.

It’s just got to be painful for those who wish their chosen allies would not stand in front of a camera and lie on behalf of the anti gun ownership movement, but that’s who you’ve supported, and who you don’t support.
If the shoe fits, however painful the trail you choose to walk, wear it.
I support the NRA and the truth.

The talking heads of both sides have droned on for so long that many of the sheep have turned off thinking and listening and are now more susceptible to the propaganda being put out. It must be true if it’s on the tube or the internet. Many voters couldn’t pass a basic citizenship test and those are the educated ones. Give the masses more games in the Colosseum seems to still work today. The duties of citizenship don’t even exist for many people.

Here's the question of the day, MDW, Watchdog, does going to college necessarly make a person smart?
Because someone get's elected to a office, does that mean they are smart?
Because someone is in front of a camera day after day, spewing out their views, does that make them smart?
Are any of them, so much smarter than you or I?
Has it not been said, if you tell people a lie enough times, they'll believe it?
Just wondering.

No, he’s not stupid. He’s a trained propagandist. He didn’t mis speak, he spoke what he knew would convey the message his cadre believes, and quite subtly revived the Vietnam war division that his leftist mentality has been selling whenever they feel it will energize the now aging population who screamed “baby killers!” back in their own heyday.
And as for where the elected representatives come from professionally, our Constitution was written in such simple terms so as to allow anyone the people elect to write and execute the law of the land. Untangling the unconstitutional is uncomfortable for the progressive leftist.

If you listen to the whole clip in post #__6__ above..... sounds like he's comparing the AR15 to the M 14..... "lighter", more bullets, bigger magazines/"faster to reload".........."more lethal" remember the old "tumbling bullet"/ like a buzz-saw concept with the 1/12 twist rate.
You know; His old district is known as the "Red Neck Riviera"

Well, as the ol contrary warrior sez,

Right on Tex- The question- is, or was he representing the best interests of all the people all the time. Intelligence does not equal good moral judgement-never has-never will. The thing that tells the story about him and people like him is his condescending response to any Christian content, as if he "knows all that" as has already arrived. Oh yeah, I'm a Christian-ha ha ha! If that's the case, it sure don't show up in his on screen persona.

The ignorant public listens and believes what these anti gun people say as the truth.
Gun control is good aiming.
It’s not the gun nor the laws this shooter was a legal purchaser just like the mother in newtown till the shooter there took her guns after killing her.
We need to have a relief valve on the pressure cooker way before guns are involved. We need a hot line that troubled kids can turn to and get help. Society puts so much pressure on the kids today. We need to help guide these kids long before they go to gun violence. That’s were the problem lies.

What "mysterious death" was associated with him?

I haven't read the article but my first thought was maybe the guy is mistaking the AR15 for the M14 or perhaps the AR10???
I doubt the facts are all that relevant anyway...

Joe must have read that somewhere, or a staff member told him because he was NEVER over there (I was).

My AR-15 is only semi-auto because I can't locate any of that full-auto ammo, but when I do I'll be full auto! WooHoo!

The way to combat this is to introduce firearms, hunting and the shooting sports to new people all the time. Offer to take someone to a shooting range or hunting and teach them about firearms and the safe handling of firearms. There are an estimated 35-55 million gun owners in the USA depending on what survey you read. If Just 1/4 of all gun owners would introduce shooting, hunting to someone new we would have 9-13 million new shooters every year. Don't complain just pass it on to the next generation of shooters, hunters and collectors!
