NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS 2018
Back By Popular Demand
Welcome to the fun thread, where nobody knows what they are talking about.
Here we are once again, this will be the 11th year we have some fun at the S&W forum regarding good old hockey.
All those that participated in the past were nothing but great fans of hockey, whether their teams made it to the finals or not.
Mild digging here and there in good taste, but nothing nasty at all, just a great group of fans.
I hope some of you guys show up again and join the fun, otherwise this thread will go south fast.
Pick your team and see why this is the most difficult trophy to win in all sports.
Let's get ready and drop the puck at the S&W Forum.
Playoffs begin on April 11, 2018
Of course I'll be rooting for the Boston Bruins, but I think getting by Toronto is going to be tuff.
Sadly to say, no Rangers, Hawks, Wings or Habs.
Maybe a little smile after watching our Bear in action?

Logan is holding out hope for his BluJax. Failing that he said his loyalty can be had for a YooHoo and a bag of pork rinds.

Aren't they the only '67 expansion club NOT to have thier collective names on the cup (or in the Bank of Montreal)?

I know as much about hockey as I do rhythmic gymnastics but I do enjoy watching both on the tube, if not for different reasons. I'll lurk at the fringes for a bit, just to keep an eye for a certain fella from Mo. who has suffered great loss in the hopes to see him recover some of his good cheer.

Time will tell, but I am really hoping to see him post again, he has been with us for many years, and we do need his humor and knowledge of the NHL.
Plus he loves Bobby Orr.
And you pay more attention to the game, after all Tampa Bay is in second place.

I don't know.
It's not easy being a ex-Chicagoan and life long Black Hawks fan and living in far S/W Missouri, the land of "what's hockey".

Three-Peat!!!!!
Pens are limping in this year. Let's hope they turn it up. Feels like the last season just ended!

I'm going with the Pens again this year. At least I don't have 3 favorite teams like last year. Makes life simpler.

From the get-go I was sure the Wings were out of it this year, but was really shocked that the Hawks didn't make it either. I guess that frees me up to be a fair-weather fan of whatever team is winning at any particular moment.

This is, in some ways, a truly enviable position to be in as a real hockey fan. You can observe, skill, heart, team depth, unity, even BALLS, and make decisions in your favoritism based upon the team who’s PLAY you PREFER or admire the most; all home-town allegiances aside.....

I would only add as an original sixer to an original sixer, “it’s best to keep ultimate victory among ourselves”

Now that I think about it, that’s my primary element of ‘discrimination’ if my Bruins aren’t in it; i’m With the next original six team. If two or more OG’s left, I choose the lesser of the evils. If none left, you choose the play and players you like/respect the most.

Well, since my Rangers and Blackhawks are in the “rebuilding” mode this year (and God only knows how many more seasons before they are back in the picture ) I have to come up with some new “favorites” this year.
My conditional picks are, in order, Nashville and Minnesota. Nashville because Milwaukee is a farm club for them and many of the current Predators played in this neck of the woods.
Minnesota because they are the other “regional” team that we see on Hulu. Have watched them a lot since we cut the cable and started streaming and have been impressed.
This is one of the best non-firearms threads around and can’t wait for the playoffs to begin!
Thanks Labworm for bringing it back again!

The kid can play hockey. I'm sure glad to see Rask back to his old self too. Of course the back-up ain't bad either.

I will go with the Jets. Local boys - sort of. Went to a few games back in the 80's. Got to see some of the greats of that era.

Playoff Thread time!!!!
The Blackhawks have been less than effective this year. Disappointing, but we've had time to come to grips with it....like most of the season.
Very impressed by the Bruins, so with permission from the B's fans I will board the Bear bus as a part time playoff rider.
Going to pull for the Blues (Blackhawks younger sibling) to make the cut also. Heck you guys play us twice this week, so there is no excuse for not securing a wild card spot.
LET'S PLAY HOCKEY!!!

Great game by both clubs.
B's did pick up a point , they are now in 1st by two points.
Maybe I should shut my trap.

That was a good game. I think the 1 point for the Bruins will keep them in first even if TB wins. I hope we get a series with the Flyers. That would sure be a fun one.

Rusty, the Flyers to me have never been the same since the Broadstreet Bullies days and those were the good days of hockey.
Folks down Philly way believe they deserve a win this year along with the Eagles Super Bowl win. The Eagles were a long time coming!
The Flyers I don’t know that I see it?
