I am the only one in the family who drinks coffee other than my BIL in Colorado. I have had the same 4 cup Mr Coffee Jr for about 15 years. I just make enough for one big cup at a time.

I finally decided to get a real coffee maker and it came in last night. Pulled it out, cleaned it and made a batch using my favorite from bluemountaincoffee.com, Edgar's Signature Blue Mountain Peaberry Blend. I am going to have to adjust my grinder to a much more coarse setting as the first batch was a bit gritty. However, that was one GOOD cuppa joe.

My new pot is a '50s era Pyrex Flameware 4 cup coffee pot, and despite the added cleanup I think I am going to like it.

Man, I haven’t seen one of those for a very, very long time!

Re making one big cup at a time, another approach is to use one of those white porcelain drip coffee gizmos with a paper filter, and set it directly over your cup. (Or, if you want more than a cup, directly over a thermos.)

I been wanting to get a old school pot like that,mind telling where you got it and how much?

This one was right at $50 shipped. I got it off Etsy after searching with Google for Pyrex Flameware coffee pot brought up hits on both Ebay and Etsy. Lots of them out there but a majority were missing pieces or they wanted $100+shipping for them.

I have an enamelware coffee pot I like to use with my vintage Coleman one burner stove, but I might have to branch out and get a Pyrex pot as well.

Mrs. Chief38 makes coffee every morning in our Presto 12 cup electric percolator BUT if I get out of bed first I use my "Cowboy" Farberware 8 cup stainless steel stove top percolator. Both work equally as well, but the stove top pot takes longer and produces a better aroma for a longer time period. Your Pyrex glass pot should work just as well!

We also have a very similar glass Pyrex pot that we use for boiling water for Tea and Oatmeal. It does have an insert to perc. coffee too but we don't use it for that purpose.

I can not stand the coffee from the Mr. Coffee style machines, mostly because it is never really piping hot as we like it. I also don't care for the individual cup coffee machines like Krupps - just tastes pretty bad to us. It's better than nothing if you are at the Car Dealership or in a Hotel Room, but IMHO not a very good cup of coffee for real coffee lovers.

Where's the K Cup go?

We found one very similar when we were cleaning out my MIL's house. My SIL claimed it. I had no idea they were so collectable. I believe she actually wanted it for sentimental reasons so it's all good.

There is nothing quite like the old ones! They now make cheapened "Chinesium" wannabees, but they are not the same in construction as the originals. We also have a new Chinese made glass one that my Daughter brought home from college and it's really cheesy.

I've had a couple of those coffee makers. All of them eventually shattered on the stove while perking up a good cup of coffee. I've found them at antique stores. Be careful

While I've never had a GOOD American made Glass one break when in use, they DO break when Mrs. Chief38 drops 'em!

We have a Ninja coffee bar it's not old but it makes hot coffee 205 degrees there about. It works well for just the wife and I we can make a pot a cup or somewhere in between. It also makes really strong coffee I use that for bbq sauce. It makes ice coffee too. Best part is you use your regular coffee no kcups or pods.

It is a really nice machine but doesn't hold a candle to some campfire coffee or the old stove top deals.

He bought two of them some 40+ years ago in case one of them broke.

Whenever I buy something in two's just in case one breaks - it never does. When I buy one, it usually breaks and a replacement is either unavailable or not made by the original manufacturer.
