Default Breakfast for Common Folk

My MBH (much better half) called breakfast not long ago, and before I started eating I thought how good it looked and how blessed I am.

I would like to share a photo. Homemade biscuits and crab apple jelly. Egg, sausage, jalapeno, and cheese to go with it. I get this most Saturdays. I can testify that it was as good as it looks.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Mine is fixin' to happen. Two farm eggs on corn tortillas with melted cheese, half a 12 oz pack of maple bacon, and the ever present jalapenos with my home made green salsa to be applied as needed.
Followed by a glass of ice cold milk. Sometimes that seems like the best part!

Good thing I just finished eating, otherwise that would be sending me to the kitchen. No pictures but large whole wheat bun, 4 maple sausage links, 1 egg, & slice of cheese melted on top. My version of Mickey D's
sausage egg McMuffin. Good after a night of "adult beverages"

Didn't have any jalapenos, would have diced some into the egg.

Before I went for a 4 3/4 mile walk this morning I had a decent breakfast which I prepared. One scrambled egg, sausage, homemade hash brown potato, toast with boysenberry preserves, and milk. The hash browns were special for a Saturday.

This morning I fried myself an over easy egg and my wife toasted me a piece of whole wheat honey bread with a smattering of sweet cream and honey.
Yummy!

Glad I too just ate. Had a Beef and cheese Chimachanga and a Moca Loca for breakfast.

My Doc. told me to eat a bowl of oatmeal every morning for six weeks and come back to get my cholesterol checked. Went back and he said my cholesterol was better but I had gained ten pounds. I said, "No wonder, forcing myself to eat all that oatmeal after my bacon, eggs, and biscuits every morning."

Oatmeal is the best, I need to start that again as well-thankfully just because and not for health reasons. Good luuck with yours.

Had breakfast with granddaughter this AM. Nice place in Mansfield, Tx. We had the Southern scramble. One biscuit opened and covered with scrambled eggs hash browns chopped up sausage. Then all that covered with white flour gravy. Man it's a lot for an old man to eat. Washed it down with an ice cold Dr. Pepper.

I am also blessed with a wife that likes to cook. The only downside (if you can call it that) is that she rarely cooks the same thing twice. Breakfast is a particular favorite of mine.
Here is a great breakfast she made for me recently. Home made corned beef hash, grilled home baked raisin bread, home raised poached eggs.

Having read the thread title, I was hesitant to venture here. I am not a common person; I am descended from a British baron of considerable influence in the 17th Century, whose son was made a baronet.

Having read the thread, it seems as if you common people are eating well.

At home,I usually just scramble eggs and have cereal bars or whole wheat bread.

Away from home, I go to IHOP and order a Rooty, Tooty, Fresh and Fruity breakfast, with plenty of coffee in both cases.

Well, sometimes, in deference to my ancestry, I have a cup or three of tea. I certainly have a few cups of tea throughout the day. I'm probably one of the better American customers of tea merchants like Twining's and Taylor's of Harrogate.

And I put honey on the bread. I quite like honey.

My son prefers Denny's to IHOP, but I get heartburn from Denny's. Too much bad grease, I think. My daughter agrees with me: definitely IHOP. The son is a literal genius, but he likes Denny's and owns a nickel-plated gun! There's no accounting for some tastes! (Which is what Peter Hathaway Capstick told me when I said that I enjoyed his books...)

I'll now leave and let you common folk get back to discussing your breakfasts. But I DO NOT agree with one among you who thinks that biscuits and gravy is a full breakfast. I want eggs, and if I don't have to fry it myself, I want ham and sausage, and maybe pancakes. I'll eat potatoes if they come with a meal and are good, otherwise not, at breakfast.

Oh: I like fresh fruit, especially kiwi fruit.

"But I DO NOT agree with one among you who thinks that biscuits and gravy is a full breakfast."

Iffn' you put enough sausage in your gravy, it makes a good meal.

I baked some biscuits this morning and had some sausage patties as well.

One of my ancestors was made a count by the King of Wales. In addition, the king decreed that all of his descendants would be counts and countesses. So I'm a Welsh count! Or as I usually refer to myself, I'm a no account Count!

I don't think there's been a separate King of Wales in a LONG time! And I don't think Britain has Counts: that's a European title. A British Countess is married to an Earl.

But it's a good story!

If You put lots of sausage in Your gravy and eggs on top it makes a great breakfast. I personally like chicken fried steak and eggs with home fries and lots of gravy. Yes I'm overweight, but not much. I worked on commercial restaurant equipment around here for 40 years so I saw all the kitchens. You will never see Me in an IHOP or a Dennys.

This morning, Conchita made a big mess of home fries by slicing up a couple of baked potatoes. What I call salt-and-pepper scrambled eggs, where the eggs and whites cook separately for a bit before they are mixed up, making two-toned scrambled eggs. Four slices of bacon, a bunch of asparagus tips and a toasted bagel. It will probably never come together quite that way again, but it sure was tasty.

I have one (often stated) rule at the table. If there isn't meat, don't call it a meal. :-)

As my friend said, contemplating a salad, "This isn't food. This is what food eats!"

A pack of Lance's Captain wafers, Nature Valley trail mix bar, a big banana and a stick of Sargento's cheddar.
All wrapped in a brown bi-fold paper towel while I hit the rounds at the poop plant.
Oh, and still semi hot coffee from home.

My own favorite is Eggs Benedict but that's generally reserved for weekends. Right now i'm on Atkins so my breakfast usually consists of 2 hard boiled eggs and a couple of pieces of sausage or a slice of baked ham.
My son-in-law make up this Mexican breakfast with is off limits to me right now.
He pan fries up some chunked potatoes and mounds them in the center of a plate. he adds some sauted onions and green peppers with some jalapeno tossed in. Chorizo sausage goes in as well and the whole dish is topped with two sunny side up fried eggs.
This is a breakfast with some staying power!
Jim

Here is a first.
Signed up at the last minute to do a
small gun show in East Texas this weekend.
It is put on my the Lions Club.

30 minutes prior to open they provided all
vendors's breakfast. Free to all vendors.
Bacon, eggs, biscuits w/gravy.
It was great. OJ, coffee, milk.
Then at lunch they served a spaghetti or BBQ plate.

Sunday...breakfast again and fried catfish for lunch.

No place but Texas...

You made me smile and brought back a memory, Sir! When I was a little kid, and boxed dry cereal was kind of a newer thing on the grocery shelf (and the most likely cornflakes there were the Post brand called Post Toasties), my dad made the same comment regularly from my earliest memories. He said you could come in at night after a hard day's work, eat a bowl of Post Toasties, and read the local newspaper, and go to bed without a thing on your mind or your stomach either one!!! Truth! (But it didn't keep me from eatin' a lot of those Post Toasties, mostly for a snack in between the three squares a day that my mom fixed every day for us!
