Yep Herman and The Far Side were always my two favorites.

So I'm re-taking calculus in summer session [which should explain my lack of an engineering degree] and, like me, most of the students were full grown adults with regular jobs taking classes in addition to working full time. We had one of those professors who really liked to assign homework, and three times a week I was turning in like a 3/16" stack of problems. He was 20-something and insufferably cheerful, talking about how he went swimming and did X laps before class, etc.

One day he bops into the room and hits us with a chipper "Good morning, class!" And most of us reflexively reply back with a downcast and half-mumbled "Good mooorning, Mr. Johnson."

The next class he's standing at the door handing out copies to everybody:

Based on where I was in the class, I'm the one on the floor with the neck brace and ball & chain.

The same teech was also responsible for the Far Side cartoon When Clowns Go Bad.

Last spring I was doing some night fishing and lost a lure when it snagged.
A few casts later I got another snag. I gave the line a quick, sharp tug and this was what I reeled in.
