Default My Marine son to visit Belleau, France

My son is out of the Marines and is now a private contractor in Germany. Last year he went to Belleau Wood France to hang out and celebrate with other Marines and is going again this weekend. He said General Mattis might be there. Here's the WW1 story of the place and the historical importance to the U.S. Marines...

A lot of the strength of a military unit is derived from its history. Same goes for our country. The history of the world is military history according to the retired full bird who taught me to study history in college.

When he goes, have him say a prayer over Edmund M Wilson 6th Marine Regiment who was killed in action 6/44/18. He is my Father in Laws uncle. He is buried in that cemetery. From what I gather he had been a Marine for a little over a year.

Supposedly at one time Charles De Gaulle demanded the President Eisenhower remove all the American troops from France. Eisenhower asked him "the ones buried there too?"
