I just heard on the local news that he played football for SIU Carbondale (Illinois) so I guess he knows how to run and tackle.

I wonder how often and for how long this will be run in the mainstream media? If "little Johnny" had killed a dozen folks or more and been able to be tied with anyone who was ever in the NRA, it would be in heavy rotation with lots of tsk tsking and demands for outlawing all those "evil" guns. The teacher deserves nomination for "Teacher of the Year." I bet his students will pay attention to him when he speaks. (Full disclosure; I'm a retired high school teacher.)

Mr. Seaman doesn't have stones, he has boulders.
Here's wishing him a quick and complete recovery. And a raise.

As of five minutes ago, the CNN website is leading with this story, including a picture of the teacher.
I never watch broadcast news, preferring to read it on line where I can be selective and avoid talking heads, so I don't know what play it's getting on the tube. But that website is all over the story.

I think there's another lesson here, beyond the one about rapid, decisive action. Lots of wannabes and mall ninjas fantasize about gunning down a six-foot-fall wild-eyed maniac or jihadist.
Nobody likes to think about having to shoot a twelve-year-old, but it's a thing that can happen.
