Default Remember the Michigan veteran who wanted 100 birthday cards for his 100th birthday?

Ike Fabela wanted to get 100 birthday cards for his 100th birthday today.

We discussed this in this thread not long ago.

Well, Mr. Fabela's birthday wish was granted...and then some!

As of today, he's received 55,000 cards and packages! And the cards are still coming in.

You may read about it by clicking here.

One of the cards was from me. How many of you sent a card?

Thousands of cards and the thanks of those whose life he affected are nothing less than this veteran deserves.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Fabela!

In related news....

Ike Fabela's letter carrier was forced into early retirement due to a massive inoperable hernia.

It was an absolute pleasure to send one! I wonder if Mr. Fabela had been a French soldier in WWII. In his photo in the original thread, he is holding a bolt action rifle and appears to be wearing a French helmet. Can anyone please confirm or deny? Thanks.

I sent a couple. The first one had 56 signatures of folks in Lander, Wyo.

The second one was signed by more than 50 Vets flying the colors (hats, t-shirts, jackets or pins) at the Wyoming Weapons Collectors gun show in Riverton, Wyo., on Memorial Day weekend. Everyone was thrilled to sign Ike's BD card and wish him a happy hundredth.

Thanks for posting the follow-up, Watchdog.

I sent a card with a letter of thanks and congratulations. Felt good to be a small part of his happy 100th birthday celebration. I so love that people can and do still recognize those that are worth and deserving. Maybe there's hope for the human race after all.

I too was wondering about the outcome of that, had no idea it would be that high. Now that's a genuine feel good story.
