Default On the edge

On edge or ledge? Got me thinking the kids born in 2000's Are they going to be pocket knifes owners? Is the big knife companys in for a rough down turn in sales.? I being a child of 60's / 70's like alot aboard. I know the alot of the kids growing 80's / 90's are still pretty solid knife buyers. But this 2000 crowd could be a very hard sell in my view.

We have to continue to promote and show pocket knives as tools. Pull out your knife and use it, if needed, in public.

I’ve decided I am no longer going to stay in the shadows. I carry a knife. It’s a tool. I use it responsibly.

Same for firearms.

What might help, if you have any children to show, is that if they watch the credits for the current "MacGyver" TV show, it lists one of the sponsors as Victorinox, the renowned maker of the Swiss Army knife.

My three daughters had daughters in 2000. All three are focused on preparations for leaving home for college. Knifes may come later.

I sell a lot of cheaper pocket knives to the 18-21 year old age group.
Hopefully when they get a little older they will appreciate better quality ones.

Two of my grandsons (9 and 10) have pocket knives. They have both proven to be quite responsible with them.

I rarely get to use my pocket knives as Logan is more than happy to provide his cutting services to me.

I had a 20 something neighbor that was working his way up the Starbucks corporate ladder. He had become a knife nut managing Starbucks because of the amount of packaging they have to cut down. He was a big fan of Kershaw assisted openers, appreciated higher end knives, but had a young wife and child helping him spend his money.

A 20 something chashier at Trader Joe's had a Spyderco Enuff small fixed blade on her belt as she was checking me out. I told her that I liked women that carried knives, and pulled out my Spyderco Positron and flipped it open. She said, this is my work knife, I have one like that for when I go out.

I see many younger folks interested in knives, but like I was when I was young they may not be able to afford or justify a high dollar knife.

My son, born in 2003, has literally HUNDREDS of knives. He loves knives, and he has everything from tiny keychain knives to a 28 inch machete.

I think knife makers might be safe for awhile yet.

My 2000 kids inherited Dad's uses for knives like opening boxes, cutting food and carry and have their own collections. However, in anticipation of and once they inherit dad's collection they will not be buying too many knives.

Is an Xacto a knife? They come with a safety cap now. Cuts the tape on Amazon deliveries very effectively.

I still carry my great grandfathers CASE pocket knife, its so warn the CASE engraving on the silver diamond on the Black Scales is no longer ledge able. Planning to hand it down to my son on my passing and hopefully it remains in the family forever.
