Am I being scammed? Anyone know a Padro Justin?
I posted a wanted to buy ad the other day and I got a few leads on a 625 I'm looking for. Then out of the blue I get a email stating what they are selling and a friend of his is a member that told him to contact me. He sent me pictures and we agreed on a price but not he doesn't know his friends forum username and he actually sent me a link to another Smith and Wesson forum that I guess is the members user page. I am not a member there and can't see it. Now he is asking me what forum I am a member of. The deal is pretty good. Not to unbelievable but a little suspicious that this all came about now.
Has anyone dealt with a gentleman named Padro Justin? Or might be friends with him? I know this might be a long shot but I figured I'd try.
I'm new to this forum and I apologize if this is out of place. Everyone has been so helpful here that this just seems a little strange.
Thank you

I'm debating on calling him. He gave me his phone number. But another weird thing is the ebay feedback he gave me is for Wisconsin and his phone number is listed as North Carolina.

After reading all of that.....
Too many red flags. I won't even order off of Gunbroker without really solid credentials. There are other buys out there. I wouldn't buy here unless there was some REAL convincing show of good faith.

He may see you coming.
With all the scams being perpetrated, you need to walk away. Anyone legitimately selling something insures that his offer doesn't sound fishy and he gives you enough information to better make an informed decision.
Better to pay retail price at a local dealer or a reputable online dealer such as Bud's Guns than to get burned.

Ok yeah I'm going to say it's a scam...... here's the info.....
The ebay feedback is for a malone plumbing out of Wisconsin. The cell phone number is North Carolina. I called the phone number and a women named Kathy answered and said there was no padro or justin. I hung up. Then she called me back and said justin was her boyfriend and she didn't realize she was using his email. All along she had a very thick foreign African accent.
Email is [email protected]
Ebay feedback is Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles, Coupons and More Online Shopping | eBay
Phone number is +1 336-773-9323
Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it even though my gut was telling me no and the wife said the same thing lol

These folks are running so many scams using so many different names, they can’t keep them straight!
Years ago now, I used to check into motels as Pardo Justin.
I would claim I was a member of the boot making family.
But that was years ago!

Ask for his FFL's info-then call the FFL after looking him up, and ask him about this individual. If he can't supply an FFL, case closed...

We have seen a LOT of scammer action in the WTB section of the forum. Lee (handejector) has posted a sticky there with a lot of good info on how to avoid these bottom feeders:
How to NOT get Scammed
OP has done a great job in his investigation of outing this guy. Take care guys, and always proceed with extreme caution!

That is the exact situation from my wife's phone. She got her cell phone while we were living in NC but we have now moved to WI and the land line in our WI home is a WI number.

I once bought a gun from the for sales here and the seller was very new to the forum. Before I agreed to send any money I had him email me a photocopy of his drivers license and said I would only sent a postal money order to that name and address. Got the email of DL right away.
Not fool proof, but any hesitation or excuses would have shut me down.
I was born and grew up in Montana. Lived and worked for years in Washington. Got my cell phone in WA. When I moved back to Montana I kept the WA number. Everyone knows it, long distance is history. Didn't make any sense to change it and I don't have a home phone.

Uh, what?
Often these phone numbers forward to some overseas phone and through some hocus-pocus you get the giant phone bill. That may not be the case here, but be careful.
How did Kathy get your number? You did dial *67 to block your number from appearing on their caller ID....right?
