I haven't been to a beach in decades.
We spend most of our time playing on the local mountain ridges.

The shells are piled up all over.
Gasparilla island, FL. I haven’t seen 10
people on the beach since arriving yesterday.

That's like the commute my dad had right up to the very end. My stepmother and Pop had a house built overlooking Lake Erie. Pop had a telescope set up on the top deck so he could watch the ore boats. At the very end of his life, one of the things he wanted was to get out of the hospital and go back to his house. Hospice, on a Sunday, was able to get a hospital bed put in Pop's house where Pop could look out over Lake Erie and got him out of the hospital so he could spend the last hours of his life in his own house, looking out over the beach and breakwall.

I always wonder what people do for a change of pace/vacation when they live in places like those pictured above? Do they go to say downtown Detroit or Chicago!!??

I just got back home from a 9 day vacation in Cincinnati.
Most of my family lives there.
