Default FFL Help!

Hi, all!

Well here's a new one for me. So I bought a Remington rolling block style .22 off Gun Broker the other day. I paid for the gun online and sent the company the link to my FFL dealer's website. On their site there are two downloadable FFLs in the "contact us" page. Well both licenses (not sure the difference in them) are current, one expires in August this year and the other not till 2020.

So I get an email back from the folks I bought the rifle from and they said they looked it up and my dealer has a newly-issued FFL, and that they need that.

So I call my FFL dealer and apparently they haven't received their new FFL or something to that effect... so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place gang.

The folks I bought the rifle from won't ship even though my dealer has two current FFLs posted right on their site. And my dealer says they haven't got this new FFL yet so I can't have them send it to the people who have my rifle...

Me, being an idiot, bought the gun with my debit card (I know, mistake) otherwise I'd call the credit card company and cancel the order.

Anyone ever heard of something like this before? What should I do?

Jay

Go to guns america they have a place to enter your zip code to locate a dealer close to you. You will have to search the web site to find the info but its there. Jeff

Sounds like a good idea. I'll call them tomorrow to see if they can send their new FFL. If not I'll get ahold of another dealer near me with good reviews.

If either or both of the FFL's are current (EZ Check on line will tell them), and if they are of types 01 or 02 (Dealer or Pawn), then there's is no reason the seller cannot send the rifle to your FFL.
If your FFL is being issued another lic they have applied for (perhaps something to do with Class III, or maybe Importation), that has nothing to do with this or the seller.

If the ATF is telling the seller that neither of the licenses are current because of failing to update address change, or other necessary details,
or suspended because of some compliance problems,,then that's something else.

Check the lic's yourself here:

Simply do an internet search for "FFL near XXXXX (your zip code). You'll get all the licensed dealers in your area; then, go into their shop and fill out the paperwork. I always wait until they tell me the email or fax has been sent and received (not necessarily opened).

Make sure you have all the info about the firearm - make, model, caliber, SN. Also, the seller's name (biz?), address, telephone number + fax if they have one, and the email address.

Once your FFL has sent the info. Email the seller using the GB message system with the FFL's name, address, and phone number so they can accurately fill out the mailing label. After a few times, it gets easy. Enjoy your new firearm!

If I remember correctly GB has an FFL search feature. I’ve used it before.
Just type in the pertinent info. and it will list all the FFL’s in your local area.

Bud’s Guns has a list of FFL, IIRC.

Default Yes...

Forget this FFL. Start again with a new one..Any gun store that does transfers would work. Just make sure you don't get scalped. I pay 20 bucks for a transfer. If it were over 30 dollars I'd find a new one. Of course there are plenty in my neck of the woods.

If you got a good deal on the gun, I would start again with a different dealer.

Someone wants that transfer fee. Just have to find out who wants it enough.

My FFL says he will accept it, and I will drop it off next time I visit Vegas.
Just send me the $25 transfer fee and a box of test ammo.

One reason why I strongly recommend that every collector apply for a C&R license. You send them a copy and they send the gun right to your house. Right now that covers most firearms built before 1968.

As far as the OP's dilemma, if the FFL has a current license, even if it expires in a month, it is good right now for this transfer so a copy of that license should be sufficient to do the transfer.
