Cool George Clooney takes flight

George on a motor scooter in a head on collision with a car in italy. i suppose he's not used to flying below first class.
he wasn't seriously hurt.

Good actor that's been in a few good movies but it ends there.

Given who and what they are, George can have Amal and Italy can have both.

I know they 're friends of Rande and Cindy (Crawford) Gerber, but as much as I admire Cindy on some levels, I'm afraid that there are other areas common to those couples (that can't be discussed here) that I don't admire.

George can really lip Sync!
Not sure how much that’ll help him this time.

I just read he was going 60-65 at the time of the crash. It is a miracle he was not killed. I see kids riding those big scooters all over town around here and they always looked like deathtraps to me.

Probably was kilometers per hour since he's living in a European country (where he belongs)

Every report I have seen says 60 MPH. But who knows—sure seems like you could break your neck at 6 or 60 MPH hitting a car head on. Helmet must have saved him.

the news loves to stretch the "facts" of what really happened.
a local tv newscast lady hysterically exclaimed that he flew 20 ft. from watching the video it appears closer to 8-10ft at most.

George's job is to entertain me and he does it quite well. While he has views contrary to mine, I wish him or his no ill.

We really have a thread celebrating an injury to an American citizen caused by the inattention of an Italian citizen, in Italy?

Head on collision at 60 mph and he wasn't seriously hurt. Yeah right! He would have been equal to bug splat at that speed. They would have had to scrape him off the road and car. Was the collision while on set filming a fake movie crash? Perhaps his hand slipped off the clutch and he hit a parked car head on?
Watching the video I think it makes no sense. The front end of the MB isn't even dented or a light busted. I find this very hard to believe happened as reported. I don't believe they really did land a Boeing 747 on the Vegas main street to make the movie.

But I did hear a woman lived a free fall from an airplane because she landed on a fire ant mound.

The whole thing doesn't add up.

Hit a car head on at 60MPH and not seriously injured? And only "flew" 20 feet? At 60 MPH you're going to travel a LOT farther than 20 feet - unless you hit a fixed object. If you hit a fixed object at 60 MPH you're going to be seriously hurt - probably mangled.

When I was in high school my old man and I had a front tire blowout and laid his Honda 750 down on the freeway at 60 MPH one time - and I guarantee you we slid and rolled a LOT farther than any 20 feet - more like 75-100 feet.

I'm betting he was doing 60 KPH - which is more like 37 MPH. Easy mistake to make and typical level of accuracy for the press.

Default I DON'T GET IT.

Just can't wrap my head around people being happy over someone else's injuries. "Couldn't happen to a nicer guy", I watch a FEW of Clooneys movies because he is an actor & I don't give a hoot about much else. I enjoyed oh brother where art thou, whether he sang or a voice double was used, that doesn't bother me. Do pro gun actors use doubles? YOU BETCHA. Do I care who the butcher/baker/candlestick maker voted for or support? NO, DO YOU? Is there some jealousy about his looks/wealth/wife compared to your own??? I can't say I agree with Bobby D's political positions, but it doesn't mean the Godfather (among tons of other great roles) is a lousy movie & I won't enjoy watching it over & over. The Frank Burns (of MASH fame) theory of freedom & individuality is fine as long as we ALL do it the same way, seems to be alive & well.

He was in the Godfather???

BTW I don't think anyone here will disagree with your point about good movies and not giving a hoot about "the rest." We don't give a hoot about anything besides their roles in movies...which is why we wish they'd stick to acting and keep their opinions to themselves. I used to like Mickey Rourke...until I found out how rude, crude, obnoxious and foul mouthed he was.

Not saying which Camp I'm in, ( ) however if the situation were reversed, most guys like Clooney would not give a hoot about us and look at it as "one less guy to oppose their views".

What has happened over the last 10 years in America is tragic, appalling and disheartening to say the least. Unfortunately, the younger generation has been programmed to think WE are the enemy and NOT other entities that really are.

The way I see it is that we made them the successes that they are. We pay billions into the movie theaters...making people like Clooney insanely rich...then they turn around and gratuitously insult our culture and everything we believe in. Would you continue to shop at WalMart if their CEO got on television every week and insulted you and your family values?

YES! GOD FATHER ll. SO, we ALL have freedom of speech, except the rich & famous? What people say/do on the job VS off the job can be 2 very different things, & that goes for all jobs I can think of. On a side note, I'm not usually a fan of boycotts but the wife & I used to enjoy late nite tv host monologues that mainly involved current events. Now it seems that the monologue is gone & there is a mandatory period of 1 sided bashing. WHERE'S JOHNNY when you need him?

I don't "wish harm" on him, nor am I "happy" that he got hurt.

I'm just not concerned.

There's a difference.

I'm glad he didn't get hurt and the wife says she is very thankful that his face and hair is ok also . I know most of the guys who put in comments sounding like they are glad he crashed don't truly mean it .I thought some of them were funny in a dark sort of way maybe but funny. I don't believe for a second that any of us truly wants to see one of our famous Americans hurt just because we are Americans and we stick together .We may argue amongst ourselves but we are still part of the American family. So prayers for Mr Clooney and family and thank tne Lord he wasn't hurt bad .I guess that knocks him out of the running for possible remake of "Hells Angels" though.

If you’re boycotting anti gunners and their financial supporters you probably shouldn’t be on this forum. Cell phone and cable providers give money to the anti’s in one way or another.

I wasn't back peddling.

There is a difference between wishing harm and lack of concern.

Saying "Couldn't happen to a nicer guy." is a lot different than wishing harm on somebody.

You sound concerned enough for both of us, so I don't need to bother.

Its OK, I know what you meant. I think the problem today is that a lot of people seem to have no sense of humor...at all. Trust me, some comedian will get up on stage and make $$ cracking jokes about Clooney's accident. Nobody will criticize that.

I just don't attend his movies. A fine actor but on the wrong side of the gun issue.

Love the wording of title of the news vid, L'incidente...
Much more elegant than two clowns in the road.

Politics etc. aside, He and his wife get a gold star from those of us who have adopted Basset Hounds. (We have two & actively support our Basset Hound Rescue group.) They gave a forever home to a shelter hound.

After what I heard what he said about Charlton Heston when he was diagnosed with his illness, I hope he suffers a brain aneurism later and is bound to a wheel chair drooling!

I never saw that when he made the comments. For the record here is what he said:
Quote:
“Charlton Heston announced ‘again’ today that he is suffering from Alzheimer’s.”
This quip was delivered at a National Board of Review film awards ceremony honoring the loudmouthed actor. When called on about the stupid comment, Clooney dismissed any opportunity to apologize.
Quote:
“I don’t care. Charlton Heston is the head of the National Rifle Association. He deserves whatever anyone says about him.”
So yeah, if someone says something unkind about little George, or even if they wish him ill, that really doesn't bother me as much now as it might have before I read his comments. What goes around comes around....

I don't go to his films and I think he got off real lucky with that accident. But the idiot ignored the 1st tenant of motorcycle riding in my opinion; the one about watching out for all the lunatics out in the cars. I learned that lesson in my teens and a lot more painfully than ole George learned it; a wino going to the bar turned into me while I was going home. I woke up on the ground on my back with my foot resting on my stomach. Yes, 6 weeks flat on my back in the hospital before I was allowed to go home with a cast on the leg. And that was after trying to set the bone in traction and when that didn't work, an operation to put a plate on my femur.

The only movie of his I enjoy is the one where he is a fishing boat captain and the boat flips over at the end and he drowns.

Regardless of his politics (which I certainly don't like), I'll continue to watch "O Brother Where Art Thou" and "Intolerable Cruelty", both of which are Coen Brothers movies.

And, regardless of his politics, I wish him a speedy recovery.

Talking

When I was actively working as an EMS provider, I used to treat all of the other vehicles on the road as pin balls, just sort of randomly bouncing off of things. I just didn't want them to bounce off of me.

Now that I'm retired and do more bicycle riding, I do the same thing you do. My slower speed gives me a bit of a cushion in terms of reaction time, but people often drive, as the police say, HUA.

You'll have to figure that one out, but it shouldn't be too hard.
