I believe I'll start buying my baked goods from these folks!
I had no idea they knew how to bake, too!

Very common products here in Texas, in fact there is a Bimbo bakery here in San Antonio. It is the USA arm of Grupo Bimbo, a large Mexican company. I am not familiar with Bimbo as a Spanish word.

I think that the Spanish word means the same as the Portuguese word, and it's dimwit.

they had a bakery in Hastings but closed it up. through a long change in the number of owners I used to work nights there when I was going to trade school when I got out of high school.
I worked in front of this BIG oven and we ran the specialty breads first like raison and french bread. when we was clearing out the oven we would take one of the loaves of bread and pull the top of it off and go into the mixing room. there were barrels of real butter and honey. thick layer of butter and honey made for the evening lunch. it was really good

Mom and dad worked for Filbert Biscuits (bought up by Nabisco) when they first got married. Mom packed cookies into boxes and dad worked the ovens! They got all the broken cookies they wanted, then mom would send them in dad's lunch! I was almost 20 before I saw him eat a store bought cookie!

Bimbo is the name of their little cartoon bear logo.
They bought Mrs. Baird's Bakery's over a decade ago and have a huge presence in Texas. I happen to have a couple of their products on hand. They also make Tia Rosa tortillas. Have fun with that.

I was under the impression that there is only one fruit cake in the world and it keeps being gifted.

It is too small, so I use it as a re-usable grocery bag.

"They got all the broken cookies they wanted".....
If I worked there and that was company policy there would have been a lot of "accidents" resulting in "broken cookies".....

What fruit cake would you be referring to?

I heard the same thing, I know whenever we were given a fruitcake we always passed it on.

Going topless is no big deal. I've done it lots of times.

"Best fruit cake" is a contradiction in terms.

We still have a fruit cake in the freezer from 1988. My guess is it's as good now as it was then. If memory serves it was given by a Soft White Bimbo and I just couldn't toss it.
