Hi Bam Bam, I live near there and I like "Famous Dave's". Lots of restaurants around Great Northern Mall though. I don't think I'll be able to go Friday but I hope to be there Saturday.
Dave's is at the NW corner of mall parking lot.

Once I see where people are staying I will try to find something in between or close to the hotel. Need something with a bar so we don’t hold up a waitress, i’m not a big drinker but wouldn’t feel bad sitting there for a while talking.

Anyone buy something new since the spring meeting?? Larry

Yes it is right between I-480 and Great Northern Mall. We’ll see where a few other end up at. Try to shake a couple other local guys from the group to meet up with us. Jerry, PM me your cell phone number so I can contact you if needed.

Ok, we have a Friday Night group starting up so if anyone wants to join us feel free to come have some food and conversation. Will find the restaurant soon, stay tuned if you plan on coming. Larry

Sounds good to me. I'm probably less than 30 minutes away. Since I already have my vacation day scheduled, I can probably make it.

The time meeting at "The Bunch" seems to pass so quickly. It would be nice to relax and converse with some members of the group.

Best regards, Bob.

If I don't do Cedar Point Friday evening,I'll probably attend. A new catergory of/for pictures. Pre 'bunch' Friday socializing. I could see the future ! The pre bunch Friday socializing becomes so popular that it has a higher attendance than the Saturday 'bunch' and because of a 'late nite' Friday, the Saturday bunch attendance spirals downward to very poor attendance.

There is a nice restaurant/bar on Lorain Rd. across from the Ohio Turnpike. A motel is just East of there within walking distance also.

Penny and I hope to attend, and may be able to come to the Friday evening get together as well.

By the way, we did not get the 260 acre farm. Auction was yesterday and it sold for 1.7 million. We were shy a few dollars, so lost out.

The sale did not include two very nice silos, which sold separately, and one of the houses along with the Blueberry patch.

The guy who bought it already farms 5,000 plus acres, and he has a history of Bankruptcy. Go figure.

Lots of rain this weekend, hope it stops by October. Anyone else want to join us, post it here. Found a couple more by bumping this thread.

Shame the Colt Collectors annual meeting is the same weekend and we will not have Lesb with us. He will be with the Colt people.

Any more want to join us Friday night?? No show & tell the night before. All you need to bring is some good conversation and a sense of humor. Larry

Back to the top for Larry and the "NE Ohio Bunch". A little over three weeks to go. I am planning to display my modest collection of model 629 snubs. I have recently added a couple of unique ones. Looking forward to seeing the regular's, hope to see a few new faces as well!! Best regards, Bob.

I just picked up an M&P 5 screw, round butt circa 1917 yesterday in excellent condition. If I make it to the bunch it will be with me. I plan to post it this weekend.

Wink 625-7 3" and 460ES 2 3/4"

Recently picked up a 625-7 3" 45 Colt and a 460 ES 2 3/4" ...that's right a 2 3/4" NOT a 3 1/2"...I will possibly be bringing these to the "Bunch"...I believe the 2 3/4" 460 ES is the largest "snub" S&W made...really COOL...I believe everyone would like to see this "monster"...Roger

Glad some of you spent some money. Roger is gonna shoot the .460 on the range and we will see how bad his hands hurt.

Hope all the people in the hurricane find a safe place to stay. Couldn’t imagine going through something like that. Larry

George, glad you will return. It’s fun in a different way. I will post a time and place we will meet at a later date. It will be a dinner and BS after somewhere. If you can, join us.

Bob “the mule” was over the house tonight, good to see him. Looks like a better fall meeting this year then last fall. Larry

Ron B, there will be a J frame target trigger there. See me and I’ll point you in the direction. Ed will be there with all his parts from de-milled revolvers.

Nice catch Ollie, looks like a nice 9mm. Larry

Hello everybody, it looks like my brother from Fairport Harbor and I will be coming to the meeting. October 6 is our late dad's birthday and we believe Pop would want to see his boys out enjoying themselves. It will be great to put names and faces with the handles here. Can I bring a pan of my stuffed mushrooms?

Glad you are gonna make it Golddollar and we’ll meet your brother. Trying to get a gun restoration gunsmith from Fairport Harbor to attend with some of his work. Could get some work from the group or he just may have some fun. The mushrooms sound fantastic.

Have to find a place for Friday night supper and somewhere to BS after. Watch here for the place &time. Larry

Ollie has a smile on his face, bigger smile when the gun arrives.

FRIDAY NITE INFO
OK, Chillies on exit 6 is the restaurant we will meet at on Friday nite October 5th. It’s on the right very close to I-480. Meet from 5:30-6:00 pm. Let me Know if you will make it so I have an idea on how many to reserve tables for. We will order about 6:30 to give everyone time to make it. Try to get there early. There are hotels right there within close walking distance. Chillies has a lot of different items to eat from abt 10.00 to 20.00. We can decide where we will go after we eat. I’m hungry already, Larry

Stoped in Chilies today and have reservations for 20 people. Let me know if you will make it so I can get a head count. The mass email will be sent soon and has my email and phone number or answer here.

Saw on the door they DO NOT allow concealed handguns, just to let you know. We will be on the left side as you walk in, the quiet area is taken for a wedding rehearsal. Only 9 more days, Larry

Larry, I had hoped to attend, but it now looks like I won't be able to make it. I had a wonderful time at the spring meeting, and was looking forward to this one. Just PMed Bam-Bam earlier this evening. If things change around, I might just run up, but it is not looking like it.

Hope that everyone has a great time, and I'll be looking forward to the great photos of everything.

Best Regards, Les

Les, It’s a shame you won’t make it, you fit right in with everyone. Isn’t the Colt symposium on the sixth? Looks like a crowd this fall, few new people headed to Cleveland. Les, what ever you do have fun. Maybe in the spring.

Had a good day. Finally got the Bomar target rib mounted on my model 10-14 HB. Yeah, it has a lock but I like the round butt and shiny blue finish. Looks cool.

Finally took the 25-2 I bought with a lot of finish wear to be re-blued. Andy Horvath cut the barrel from from 6 1/2” to 3 1/2” and mounted a Weigand interchangeable front sight base on it. Stamped the bbl Horvath Custom. I was gonna round butt the gun but decided to leave it. Should have it back by Halloween. Will display in the spring. Rough day, I’m tired. Larry

Larry....yes, the Colt Symposium is the same time, and I belong (gasp) to the Colt Collectors as well as the Smith group. But I won't be going to Charlotte either!! If I have a chance to go either place, I'll be heading to Ohio!! Now that I know the way, it won't be so intimidating the next time. You have a great group of folks up there. I know I'm just a "new" guy, but I feel like I've known the folks there for years. Maybe it's because most of us have shared passions and interests and experiences.

I'll be looking forward to seeing that 25-2. Sort of reminds me of a more sophisticated version of my project Brazillian. Sounds like a winner!!

Best Regards, Les

Anyone going to the Friday night dinner at Chillies, let me know for a head count for reservations. Put the RSVP right here to keep the thread bouncing. Never know, we could get a few more new people to join us. Larry

Bump cause we’re close. Make sure you visit a bank and break some of your 100.00 bills. Will be good to be able to have the right amount of money if you buy something or give change if someone buys from you. Larry

That would be great to get a golden dollar, only have a wooden nickel.

Any one that wants to attend Friday’s dinner at Chillies, let me know, Larry

Its a no go for me this time (coach pitch softball, hunting, etc.) See you next time. If I can catch up with Ron B. and he's willing maybe I'll send a few items for sale.

Have Fun!

Has anyone heard from Old Cop (Bill)? If anyone is interested in some Police Gear cuffs, cuff keys, some leather gear and Police Badges and patches please let me know. I'm trying to sell these items for my Disabled Brother. I'll post more about what I'm bringing to sell/trade later this week. Looking forward to Saturday. Ollie

It is with great sadness that I have to report that I will have to miss the Bunching.

As some of you know we're planning a retirement home on a lake in the Laurel Highlands. Well despite all the rain this year the project is getting started, almost on, schedule. We removed some old half dead pine trees two weeks ago but heavy rains (7" last week) put a hold on starting any excavation.

Got a call last night from the Builder; a really nice "German Baptist"crew (think Amish / Father and 4 sons) that he and the Excavator want to meet on Saturday morning/afternoon to layout the placement of the building and want me there to get the placement I want; to assure the lake views we want from the windows. They want to start digging Monday.

The building was to be a garage/barn with a loft for storage.... but has morphed into a "Carriage House" (garage with living space on the second floor).

Our property is on one side of a peninsula that juts out into the lake; so while the Carriage house will sit back from the lake itself it will be high on the center of the peninsula and if place properly will have lake views on three sides from the 2nd floor "living space".

So I really need to be there to get the right placement and not get my project bumped back on their "to do" lists.

I will be thinking of you all and looking forward to the Spring.
