NCIS blew it...
NAH, NAH, NAH NAH NAH!!!
They were looking at a collection that included, "General George Patton's pearl-handled pistols".
Later, Jethro wryly says something about "Patton's pearl-
handled pistol'.

Why would you think ANYTHING concerning guns would be correct or accurate when putout by Hollywood?

Possibly a deliberate sneer at Patton’s memory. The entertainment industry schemes and manipulates as it chooses for its own (political) reasons, sometimes subtly, sometimes brazenly. It’s a different world today than in the ‘70s when the Patton movie was made - and widely acclaimed. Otherwise, yes, no reason to expect any sort of historical accuracy about something like this.

Maybe they can't have anyone owning Ivory in their storys.
The Save the Pachyderm Federation would've been on their case

Jethro needs more 1911 training also. Here he breaks down the door where an armed bad guy is held up. I thought Gibbs used to be a bad-*** Marine, NOT!

...'Patton' knows his opinion of pearl handled guns in NO uncertain terms. Mark Harmon's a few years older than me. I don't know about the young punks, but HE should know better.

...but it may well be an INTENTIONAL mistake like you say. They put on stuff we like, like NCIS, but the snibblers have to throw in some gun statements.
Which actor is against guns, but played a character with a lot of shooting? I'm sure there's more that one, but this was kind of absurd.

People would have a conniption if a show 'promoted' the killing of animals.
Boy, this is a crowd of thinkers, here. Who would have thought that such a simple observation could bring up so much original discussion to think about?.

I heard millions of viewers called the network to protest this slur on Patton's memory and reputation. The deliberate and erroneous mention of the general's pearl handled gun was so blatantly derogatory, I'm surprised the NRA hasn't requested equal time to refute this rancid allegation. I'm sure the network has tried to blame it on a low-level scriptwriter's honest mistake or just plain ignorance, but I'm not going to fall for it.
It seems there's no limit to Hollywood's depravity, the depths to which they'll sink in order slander a great hero. It's a cryin' shame.

We are now watching all episodes again...for the third time. we are now just a few episodes into the 4th season. On an episode we watched the other night Abby Sciuto, the Gothic dressing forensic scientist, and gun expert was describing the fatal bullet in a murder case. "It was a 120 grain 9mm".
We all know that 9mm bullets are either 115 grain, 124 grain or 147 grain.....unless, of course, this has changed since I've gotten away from 9mm.
I'm surprised that I never caught that before. Abby really let me down this time....sigh.

Mark Harmon's mother (Elyse Knox Harmon) was Engraver Rudolph Kornbrath's niece,, Rudoph's brother Frederic(sp?) daughter.
Real name was Elsie Kornbrath,,changed it to Elyse Knox for modeling & stage purposes.
A bit of fancy pistol grip ivory hanging on the family tree should they wish to look for it.

NCIS has been going downhill ever since Ziva left. You have her replacement who has all the talent of a cardboard cut out, Fez from That 70's Show is now a detective there and now Abby is gone. Time to wrap it up I think.

There was an episode where they are being attached in the building, and Torres (Fez) tells Gibbs, his "Sig" is locked in his desk. In actuality his character carries and uses a HK P2000. It's later shown in the same episode and I froze frame it (thank you Netflix) to confirm it was a HK P2000.
Here is a screen capture from Google

I'll probably stop watching when Gibbs hangs it up.

It might, eventually, but it will be a least a little while after he gets one of those hands loose to cock the thing.

Didn’t work.
“Preserve Our Oyster Pals” (POOP) is planning an advertiser boycott.

I keep hoping Abby will join up and tell which is better-
9mm or 45
I'd like to get that settled.

"PLACEMENT IS KING AND CALIBER IS QUEEN!", then go take a nap in her coffin.
Yeah, Jethro is a little long in the tooth, he's a couple of years older than me, and that's BAD!
I'm gonna miss Abby. I wonder what kind of kook they'll get to replace her.
David McCallum is cutting back on his involvement. I well remember the first time I saw him on Outer Limits where played a light-bulb headed man who was far advanced into the future. Then, of course there was Illya Kuryakin.
