Marty's Day...
50 years ago today my friend Martin John Begosh was KIA in Vietnam. He was a door gunner/crew chief in an attack helicopter company. He only made it a little over 3 months, but in that time he was highly decorated. He was about one month from his 21st birthday. If you type his name on the web, you can see a fine young man who will always remain young. He was my friend, and I will never forget him.

From the website: TogetherWeServed.com
On 18 August 1968, his crew extracted some F/51st Inf LRRPs, getting their radios shot out. After pulling the team out, the C&C saw someone on the ground with a full NVA field pack and thought this was another American still on the ground. Faverty's crew volunteered to pull this person out. The aircraft was shot up and flew to an abandoned strip. All three men died of their wounds.
Crew:
WO1 James D. Eisenhour [AC]
WO1 Alvis R. Faverty, Jr. [AC]
SP4 Martin J. Begosh [CE]
