I remember when Hams, Blitz, PBR, etc. were 10 cents a glass. Then I lived in Germany for a year. Got pretty spoiled.

It wasn't Lone Star, it was Jax Beer with Andy Jackson and his horse, made in New Orleans.

Back in the late 60s We thought Schlitz was pretty good, it was one of the biggest brands. Then they built a new brewery in Longview, Tx. and the new shiny equipment produced a swill that tasted like soap. The Longview brewery is closed now, and I got a Schlitz recently that tasted like I remember from the 60s. Bad old brews that I recall were Jax, Falstaff, and Pearl. Pearl starting making a bargain beer in 1971 called "Texas Pride", It was a disgrace to my great state. Coors Light, they brag about the water and how refreshing it is. That's because it taste like water! They should serve it with a nipple on it. Corona taste alright, just don't make the mistake of smelling it. I'm more of a malty beer fan, than a hops fan.

The PX at Camp Lejune had Ballentines Ale for sale. Nobody bought it. They set pallets of it out in the parking lot for free. Had to throw most of it away.

When I was a kid back in the 1940's we would get a bum down on Ferry St. to buy us a case of beer. Gave him a few buck & he would buy the cheapest **** & pocket the rest. We would go into the hills & drink our selves silly. Worst hangover I ever had. Don't ask me the brand cause that was long ago.

Ba Moui Ba - "33", yanno, 33% formaldehyde. A friend brought some home from Vietnam in the 60's. I thought maybe travel killed it, but my friend assured me that's the way it was. He said one bottle was a guaranteed headache - he was right!

Anyone ever tried Carlsberg Elephant Beer? Tastes like it might be brewed using something that came out of an Elephant
But it contains 7.5% alcohol, so you don't notice the taste much after you've had 2 or 3.

Being in the Navy I tasted beer from Calif. to Guam to Okie.
When a civilian in 1990, I worked up near Seattle Wa.
Hit a lot of bars and they had a lot of different beers to try out.
However they did have one glass of beer that I could not get down or even get near to finishing.
It was the worst beer that I have ever let touch my lips and make my taste buds quiver !!
I called the bartender over and told him I could not take it, any more. He smiled and offered to get me a new beer, at no cost.
The name was................
Red Hook.

According to ratebeer.com, of the 50 worst beers on the planet, I have had 30 of them.
I'm so proud.

Having grown up in the UK (OK the beer is at 55 F), I must agree with Susieqz. IF you have to cool a beer so that your taste buds are unable to distinguish the taste from ice water, then you really do not "taste" the beers. Now a Guinness at 55 F is a delightful beer (actually a Porter), and in a properly made IPA you can taste the hops. Remember, IPA was designed to be the ballast in East Indiamen that took over 4 months from the Pool of London to Bombay, so it has "staying power". Once my son, who is a regular in the USAF tasted European beers, he threw away all American beers in his closet and learned to appreciate "good beer!" Dave_n

Yes! American beer is the worst! I would rate Mexican beer over American beer any day!
But I like German beer.
Prost!

I am not that critical, although I certainly have my preferences. In those days, San Miguel was the BEST, until I discovered German Lowenbrau Dark. The description "German" is not superfluous; later American Lowenbrau did not compare. As to the worst, I believe that Carling Black Label may have qualified. Although this may not be relevant, they were floaters. Common Navy practice at a picnic was to fill a ****can with ice and beer. When the ice started melting, only the Carling cans floated. Form your own conclusions.
Today my preference is Natural Ice, an Anheuser-Busch product, although I certainly enjoy some other beers, usually with my in-laws, who are more connoisseurs of brewed products. I often compare American beer to romance in a canoe, although I obviously don't take it very seriously.

You can talk all this hi-falutin' explanation you want, but anyone who has ever owned an English motorcycle or automobile knows that the real reason that Brits drink their beer warm is refrigerators by Lucas.

I stopped drinking alcohol back in 1988. I don't miss it at all.
Even so, I'll have a beer now and then when I'm with my brother in law. He lives in Ohio. We were in the grocery store once and he turns to me and says, "I've seen this stuff, but never had any. Wanna try some?" It was "Burning River Pale Ale." So we get some.
Cleveland should file a defamation of character lawsuit against this company for using their name on the packaging. I've never attempted to drink kerosene, but I imagine it would taste just like this stuff. Absolutely the worst beer/lager/ale I've ever had. I couldn't force myself to drink the whole bottle. We only opened two and poured the rest down the drain.
