An old song, but beautifully done. Like many have said Alison has "the voice of an angel" Jamey puts on a great show, have seen him in concert several times.

How many of you have ever heard this? Released in 1958, would never make it today.

There's a lot of good choices. Hank, Wanda and Kitty plus just about anything with a pedal steel slide guitar puts me in the mood. Now I'm going to listen to Pamela Brown by Leo Kottke and Pop a Top with Jim Ed.

While there are many country songs that I truly love, The Wabash Cannonball is my favorite.
In 1972, my mom and I went to the Grand Old Opry at the Ryman. I got to see Roy, Minnie and Grandpa Jones perform. Roy played the Wabash Cannonball and Grandpa played Here, Rattler, Here. The next day, we went to Opryland and after touring Roy Acuff's musical instrument museum, we walked outside and there were two members of Roy's band, the Smoky Mountain Boys, picking. We sat on a bench and listened to Bashful Brother Oswald and Charlie Collins play for about a half hour.

For me there's no question it's Willie's version of "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" which for personal reasons I haven't been able to listen to for many years without responding in a very unmanly way. The whole Red Headed Stranger album is an absolute masterpiece.
Distant seconds would be Clark's "LA Freeway" which is kind of an amazing song, and I have to say Townes Van Zandt' "Pancho & Lefty" strikes me as pretty amazing though his delivery is always kind of strangely unemotional.

None of the youtube videos capture the effect of seeing him do these 2 songs live in concert

Actually he is "only" 85 but still!
I have seen him in concert 4 times over the years. The one that will always stand out in my mind was bittersweet, The day after Merle Haggard's passing. Merle was originally scheduled to be on the tour with Willie.

The Sleepy Man Banjo Boys. They're from New Jersey. I hope that's southern New Jersey. . .
or, Carson Peters, from Piney Flats, Tennessee, and just nine years old. Bill Monroe would be proud. . .

Damn people , I didn't expect this kind of response . nough to make you go down memory lane . Shouldazagged , that is one to bring tears to anyones eyes , that and Lee Greenwoods song "Thank God I'm an American." One last thing seeing as it seems like most of us aren't young , doesn't it seem like album covers , at least a lot of them , jumped out at you , conveying what the artist was singing about ?

Considered by many to be the Queen of Country Music, Loretta Lynn is best know for "Coal Miner's Daughter" but this is probably my favorite with Conway Twitty

Anybody out there recall this compilation of old and new musicians?
Will the Circle be Unbroken (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album - Wikipedia)
It has some amazing work. I never paid it much attention until I found the LP in a second hand store and took it home to play. It came at a time when younger artists were paying homage to those who came before them.
Besides the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, I like the country flavor rock of some of the 70's bands like The Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons, Poco, and the Byrds. They weren't exactly rock, nor were they truly c&w, but I love the music they made.

My favorite CW song is about a guy whose girlfriend was faithful, his dog came back home, woke-up sober after all night drinking, he missed the tree and didn't wreck his truck and went out to the bar's parking lot to find the ones who wanted to fight were gone. Tongue in cheek!

Vern Gosdin "Chiseled in Stone"
Everything Waylon Jennings ever recorded! My favorite is " Where Corn Don't Grow" kind of my life story
Randy Travis - He Walked On Water (reminds me of my grandpa)
Alan Jackson - Remember When (reminds me of my wife)
One thing is for sure todays Country isn’t traditional Country music it's been Hip Hop influenced
O'l George Jones said it best Who's gonna fill their shoes?

Someone listed this one above but didn't attach the video. I believe it is about the best produced music video I've ever seen. The filming and editing were awesome. It's a great song and Ronnie's voice does a great job.
Kix Brooks loved that horse so much he actually bought it. They seem to have a special bond in this film. A very moving video.
