MOVIE ALERT!
The Professionals, tonight at 8:00 on Turner Classic Movies.
Beautifully photographed action/adventure film with Lee Marvin.
Lee Marvin was one of the few Hollywood stars who knew his way around guns. And it shows, not just in this film, but in films like Point Blank.
There are other great actors in the film, of course, but Lee Marvin is the glue that holds the whole thing together and makes it work.

Matthew Quigley and I enjoyed the movie.
Thanks for the heads up!
One question, how did Fardan and his crew get off the train with their horses when they fled the hacienda? I must have blinked and missed something.

While interviewed on, I think, Johnny Carson, they kept pressing him for details about his purple heart, and just wouldn't let it drop. Finally he blurted out, "I was shot in the ...". That ended the inquiry,

A seldom mentioned fact about Lee Marvin is that he was originally cast to play the part of Pike Bishop in The Wild Bunch, the classic 1969 western about an aging band of outlaws.
Unfortunately, Marvin's sometimes volatile personality ran up against director Sam Peckinpah's even more volatile personality. Adios, Lee Marvin. And as everyone knows, William Holden played Pike Bishop, a role that guaranteed him screen immortality even more than his previous roles.

Lee Marvin's grave in Arlington National Cemetary. He was the real deal, no question about it.
