All I saw this morning was snow blowing around and a doe rummaging around under the crab apple tree. Next week it is supposed to get back up into the 0s and be sunny. Shows it staying that way for a bit.

There's snow up higher - about 9000 ft - I'm at about 6400.

Are you anywhere near Seely Lake?
A few years ago, a photographer friend of mine there sent me this photo of a bear just up the hill from his back deck.

Nope. According to my friends trail cameras I have a few of those about 2 miles from my place but I never have seen one here in the little canyon I live in.
A few big cats, deer and an occasional coyote.

Sad.
It makes me extremely sad to make this post. No longer than three years ago, I saw deer, possum, coon, mallard ducks, Canadian geese, and all kinds of wildfowl, and wildlife almost daily. This Fall season, the only wildlife or fowl, that I'v seen, has been a few robins, and few Canada geese, gathering to go South. All that lack of wildlife in a couple of years. That folks, makes me physically, and mentally sick. I'm afraid the "good old days", have "Got Up And Gone" Sadly, Yours,

I can't like that one Chubbo.
Is the wildlife gone of did you move??
I am very fortunate to live where I do. This was at the end of my driveway today.
The only wildlife I see on a daily basis are the feral cats that I feed every day. LOL

I don't blame you for being sad about it.
To what do you attribute the decline in wildlife there?

Central Ohio, like many other places, has an abundance of Coyotes. They consume just about everything, yet fail to reduce the non-migratory Canada Geese! The City of Columbus, has thousands of acres of farmland within city limits, so NO HUNTING, at least not with a firearm or bow and arrow (they count as discharging a weapon also!) The coyotes eat the small game and the small loose pets, yet they won't go to the inner city and eat the rats! (that proves they are smart!) So we lose the nice animals and are left with the pests!

That sucks.
Here in Utah the DWR (division of wildlife resources) has a program that pay's $50 for every coyote you kill.
Utah's Predator Control Program
There's even a guy here in my canyon that is contracted to shoot them from his plane.
Environmentalists are idiots. They make their decisions from emotions and what they directly see.

Me too. That's what pickup trucks look like.
I bought it used and it was hard to find. Several salesmen asked me why I wanted a regular cab. Guess what? I didn't buy it from them. LOL
It fills my wants and needs perfectly.

We were on the short en of the stick this past year in both snow and rainfall.
I have some friends that moved to Tennessee a few years back and they absolutely love living there.

No I didn't move, the wildlife did. I built our house, and home, 62 years ago, here on our little "dream acre". There is a stream, and several woods that I have access to, behind our acre. Our acre was once in Central Ohio, farm country. A few years ago, The capital city, and another city, moved in, and are still fighting with the township over, who will govern us, and get our tax money. Along with their dubious supervision, comes, higher taxes hoodlums, Dope peddlers, less road care, and services, less wildlife, and all of the related, unwanted, wonderful things that comes along with City life. The real sad aspect of this situation is, that my wife and I, at 87 years of age, are much too old to move out, and build a new home again, elsewhere, We must comply with Uncle Sam's orders, but he can't make us like 'em!

It was hard t hit the like button on your comment.
Sorry the growth is choking you.
I hate it when that happens. Find a nice quiet place and more people come and want to bring with them the amenities they once had living in the city, the place they wanted to get away from.
At least you have your one acre.

That's such a ridiculous blanket statement, it almost defies description.
Next time you're in a national park, visiting some national monuments, or hunting on game lands, you might want to rethink that.
Theodore Roosevelt, our 26th president, was a hunter and an environmentalist/conservationist, even though the term "environmentalist" wasn't really in wide use back then. During his time in office, he worked with the Legislative Branch to create five new national parks, 18 national monuments, four national game refuges, 51 bird sanctuaries, and over 100 million acres (40 million hectares) of national forest.
I believe most historians and students of government would agree that Teddy Roosevelt was anything but an idiot.
The same could be said of John Muir, a nationally known naturalist and early environmentalist. Frankly, if it wasn't for his efforts, Yosemite might not exist in its present form. He was also involved in the creation of the Grand Canyon, Kings Canyon, Petrified Forest, and Mt. Rainier National Parks. He's often referred to as "The Father of Our National Parks". An idiot? Not by a long shot.
I wouldn't call the over 700,000 members of Ducks Unlimited idiots, either. That group of hunter/conservationists have helped preserve millions of acres of wetlands that are enjoyed by thousands of hunters and other visitors every year.
Bottom line is you wouldn't enjoy the benefits of national parks, wetlands, game lands, and other places in this beautiful country if it weren't for environmentalists, hunters, and conservationists.
You ought to thank God for them instead of calling them names.

There are tons of of environmentalists that are idiots.
